If we cloned Lonzo, would we have the rights to his clones or would they too have to enter the NBA draft? Cause I'm starting to think that 5 Lonzoz with 3 more Lonzos coming off the bench may be the best way to make you happy.

Sure. JR's style is equivalent to a straight line skater that can't stop and redirect the puck. JR is great taking it full court and will dunk it if there's an open lane but if there isn't he has no idea what to do. He's a great rebounder and is offensively average. If I were him I would focus more on adding a solid 15-18 footer instead of shooting 3's think Karl Malone.

Defense. Spend time with the coaches and watch tape.

If I was Luke I'd spend 80% of the time in practice going over defense.

Kudos to JR for getting in better shape!

Julius Randle's style is difficult to replicate. How many PFs in the NBA can pull a rebound and push the ball on the fast break? I bet you could count them on one hand for traditional PFs. I bet you could count them on two hands if you include some of the "small-ball" PFs in the NBA today. LeBron, Griffin, Durant, I'll give you Davis, I'll give you Jabari Parker, and Draymond Green. Half of those guys are closer to SFs, but that's okay. Still less than 10 PFs who are even capable of what you (incorrectly) say Julius is good at: grabbing the ball and pushing the break for a dunk. There's some low level guys you could throw in there and maybe Dario Saric makes the list too, but still a very short list. I think fans at this stage underestimate greatly the type of pressure Julius can put on a defense.

As for your assertion he doesn't know what to do with the ball, that's just patently false. There's ample evidence that Julius is an above-average passer for a man his size. There are 13 Forward/Centers that average over 3 assists a game, Julius is one of them. Others on that list: Jokic, Cousins, Horford, Green, Gasol, Griffin, Millsap, Leonard, and Paul George. The list also includes Mason Plumlee and James Johnson who Julius outplayed in other ways (points, rebounds). Here's a few examples of Julius making excellent passes in transition or semi-transition:
    example one
the first pass in this short video
a good pass that wasn't finished and in fact if you let the video play, there's a great example next about the kind of assists he collected regularly in semi-transition

I will be the first to say that Julius has a long way to go. He's far too one-track-minded. He tends to struggle knowing when to score and when to facilitate. His defensive awareness is atrocious off the ball. He tends to pout and get into his own head when things aren't going well. He is not always engaged enough. He needs to continue working on his jumper and taking the damn shot when he's open. He needs to not hold onto the ball so long in the half-court.

However, trying to characterize him as "just a guy who grab the rebound and go dunk the ball" is not only silly considering how rare those players are, but wrong. Now if the right offer were to come along, I'm still absolutely willing to trade him. I'm just not trading him for salary relief or because he's not good enough or some silly idea like that. Randle provides a skill set very few have in the NBA and that shouldn't be undervalued.

I do agree he'd do well to also add a mid-range shot, but you also have to remember his fit with this team. That mid-range shot isn't helpful enough for him in particular with this team's offense. They desperately need him to knock down at least one three a game to open up the floor.

Julius's trainer is actually making a short video on his workouts this summer. Should be fun.

I liked all the workouts he's doing in those clips. Same stuff we've been seeing, but it's all hip, butt, and leg strength with core activation too. I dig it.

Gunnar said something interesting not too long ago: it's about functionality and that might mean the guys don't have the aesthetic look they want (in Julius's case big arms and chest), but they'll be better at the sport. You look at some of the older guys from the 80s and a lot of them had strong, thick legs and skinny upper bodies. It's not the conventional "sexy" body these days, but it got the job done with high efficiency and efficacy. I dig the concept.

Cool with the coming video and that he has Julius working in all the right areas. But good lord he better get his s*** together with his final output to whatever media platforms following his edit. Youtube? Bluray? Other? Youtube can look tremendous. His teaser clip there I guess they made available to Lakers Film Room(?) looks like 20 year old VHS garbage.

Or in the sorry azz East. Well Julius just had a son, that's all,the motivation in the world he'll need, especially with a new GM and Magic in charge.

Y'all think Julius is here in 2020?

I think he should be, we focus to much on what he can't do vs what he does do well, His O is starting to be more impactful w/o having to score....could be worse, I see Orl. fan still propping up Gordon as a future star and he's shown way less than randle

We're all forgetting he's barely going into his 3rd year in the league.

He improved his score average by 2, along with his FG % by almost 6% which is pretty darn good.

Randle should get the benefit of the doubt of ATLEAST another half a season of basketball. Cause he could easily average 15 to 17pts-10reb-3/4(Asst.)

That's in the western conference too. Send him to the East and the dude can average 20.

With the current Big 2 in GSW and CLE, there's no way we're going to compete until at least 2020, which means, for the immediate future, we should concentrate on compiling assets that will appreciate past 2020+. PG13 or/and Butler would be great to have, but they have zero affect on our chances of becoming a contender. Definitely not worth giving up ascending assets for.

A lot of folks are frustrated with Randle's learning curve (understandably so) but I could only see him develop into a complete BEAST by the time he turns 25-6. Every team needs a high-motor guy that brings physicality and rebounding. Julius adds the ability to push the ball and play-make. He'd also probably be a competent 3-pt shooter (33+%) in a couple years. Randle is a keeper.

Here here I second that emotion. Do we have a 3rd, 4th and 5th? Let's put the matter to rest.
