He should take a page out of Luke and Tarik as well's books in not treating the interviews that way. Same thing with Boron compared to Luke. He always had that intimidation thing going so reporters had to watch what they asked.
Really went out of control there towards the end. He's a great talent but man, on a lot of possessions it looks like he just doesn't have a feel for the game.

My quip with Ju is his effort on the defensive end. Rewind the tape and look how many times he just gave up or barely put any effort in to making rotations and boxing out. Julius is fantastic at chasing balls down for boards, but he gets outrebounded by active players like Faried and Leonard because he's to busy thinking about grabbing the ball and barreling down the court. I love his open court game, but he's lost on offensive sets that don't feature him down low.
I would really love to see a Moz Nance front court actually. Sounds like a defensive nightmare with Deng in there as well.
I must have watched a different game from you all. Julius had 13 and 13 and shot 66%, and dished out 3 assists. Russell had opportunity after opportunity and missed them down the stretch and so did Clarkson. Russell shot 28% and had one assist. And I still thought Russell played fairly well, just didn't finish. I don't understand blaming Julius or ripping on him for this game at all. And I don't agree with Nance as a starter. Great bench player, tons of fire and good IQ but I think that's where his strength is.
He did better in the fourth until he went out of control. The line up of him and Deng really put a spotlight on his defensive deficiencies. I don't know why he doesn't go to his little fadeaway shot in the paint more often, it's practically automatic.
No kidding. Julius has been playing pretty good, all while Black/Nance has come back to earth. Russell also stunk it up and Lillard lit him up.
These guys are going to be a work in progress. But I was surprised to come here when Randle returns to double double form and he's blamed for a loss when the guards missed nearly all of their shots down the stretch in the fourth quarter and overtime. I do get the criticism that he does not look smooth - he's a bit herky jerky at times, but what he lacks in finesse I think he covers in his speed and sheer strength. He is able to get into the hole and last night I liked the right handed finish in the fourth.
I'm not concerned about his offense, we know he's got it. The problem is, that it's what he's only focused on. On the defensive side of things, he's very lackidasical unless it's a rebound he can grab and push. Watch next game and just observe his activity on that end. He gets lost on rotations and for someone who's as strong as an ox, can he abused in the post.
Admittedly, I was the one calling for Nance to start after the 1st preseason game. Yes, I was emotional, and I wanted to yank Randle out of the starting lineup. Truth be told, though, I've seen nothing but progression from Randle since that time, IMO. He had a moment last night where he lost the ball, but it's a very teachable moment that Luke and his staff can correct him on. I'm excited and encouraged by what I see from him. Another poster mentioned he's shooting '57% in the preseason'. Improvement indeed
His defensive effort is sporadic, but I must have missed where he was a liability on that end. I watched him specifically all night and sure he has lapses in concentration like every other youngster on the team, but overall his defensive effort is far better than it was last year. He's being held accountable by his team and his coaching staff and he's improving. The reads are perfect, but they aren't going to be right now. So far I've seen him switch on to perimeter players effectively, block shots in one-on-one situations underneath. He challenges at the high point more often than he has in the past. The real problem I've seen with Julius is an unwillingness to box out and a lack of effort in the post offensively to get the ball down low. He lets himself get pushed out of the post far too much and too easily for a man his size. He needs to sit down and be a force down there. The only person who does this consistently on the team really is World Peace. It's an old school mentality these days, but it still holds. It's the details. He prefers to catch and face up though so he lets himself get pushed out to mid range about 10-15 feet instead of staying at 5-8 feet. That's fine for HIM but it's bad for the offense who now has a person sitting mid-range which clogs things up on the perimeter. I'd rather he fight to seal more often underneath or get more comfortable shooting. Still his effort offensively in transition is a game changer. His speed and agility in the open floor puts defenses on their heels every time. He's also gotten much better at finding his teammates in those situations. Night and day better. His effort defensively in transition needs work though.
Spot on analysis... Randle puts out the effort. Technically, this is his second year. Walton knows how to relate to his people and we have Shaw as our player development coach. I'm confident they can point out and try to fix Randle's rough spots.
I did not like what I saw from him last night when he got to play center. His lack of boxing out made Vonleh and Davis look like Dwight Howard circa 2010.
When he was at center he was ineffective. That was not a good looking lineup. Have doubts about him a small ball 5.
Clearly Walton is experimenting out there...see if he can replicate a semblance of what worked up North with this personnel. It is what the preseason is for.
