if he's working on the post game, (a) he needs to play against guys more than half his size, and (b) he needs to stop traveling on every move. seriously, walk city in those highlights. did finish through some contact with the right hand, though. anyway, not impressed by this drew league business in general. i'm not convinced you're gaining anything by playing there, as opposed to just working out solo under the supervision of proper coaches.
Piece I published today on Randle and what he needs to do to become the player the Lakers need him to be: http://www.lakersnation.com/summer-...-player-the-lakers-need-him-to-be/2016/08/08/
I agree totally with that article unpossible1 put out on Lakersnation. I do think we have to see how things fit within a new philosophy under Walton. Both the system and roster only went to magnify Randle's weaknesses last year. The data only shows you the results of this, some of the fix will come in what is surrounding him along with a new open floor philosophy that should help him magnify his strengths rather than his weaknesses on the offensive end...... a better rim protector beside him can also lead to more rebounds and transitional action which magnifies again some of his strengths...... every player has strengths and weaknesses to work on ..... it is up to a coach and his philosophy to minimize some of those weaknesses while magnifying those strengths....to get the most out of each guy..... the Lakers will spread the floor a bit more, this will help him. One thing I think that was missing in unpossible1's article is Randle setting screens and picks...... he is very lazy and bad within his foot placement and decision making.... this will have to improve if Luke is bringing in some of the GS philosophy of ball....... this team will have to get a lot better at those fundamentals as a hole for the spacing to work. Last year this team was a train wreck within those fundamentals.
yeah, unfortunately, that's an honest piece. he's got a long way to go on things he's probably already been working on for years. i'm holding out some hope that better coaching and another year of experience will at least help him make better decisions on and off the ball on both ends. i'm pretty concerned about the skill development, though.
I don't think its going to happen but its not a horrible trade. You are dumping Young and Faried is better than Randle right now and is only 26. He averaged like 13/9 in 25 mpg and shot 55% from the floor. He also is more active defensively. Randle has a higher ceiling at this point but its not like he is a better player right now. It seems to me like fans always expect a ripp off in trades.
According to an opposite article on Yahoo a little while ago saying it was a bad trade for them, he's a "talented" rookie guard who's good on defense. Was on Select Team as well. http://www.denverstiffs.com/2016/8/15/12479996/trade-rumor-harris-faried-for-randle-young
I think the reason people think it's a bad trade is because Faried doesn't fit with the team. He'll be older if/when the team can compete for a playoff spot, and his contract will be a hindrance for next off-season's negotiations.
faried went from overrated to underrated overnight. i'd probably do this deal. denver wouldn't, though.
Manimal is underrated but i would have a hard time trading Julius (who just had a very comparable season) for him. Never heard of this Harris guy though so i can still change my mind... ;-)
Doesn't hurt for JR to hear some rumors like everyone else. Start hitting mid range shots, using the right hand well and consistently at the rim (the ball's not heavy to practice that until you f****** get it), look a little further along with his handles and moves than he did in his first summer league and play defense like we all thought Metta was with you for a whole year to teach you??
Unlike many silly trade rumors, this one makes us a better team. We'd be much improved defensively. Faried's salary would hurt us a bit going into next season, but I'd think long and hard (and thick) about this one, but, ultimately, I don't think I'd be salivating and/or being unable to refrain from making tactile contact with these young dudes.
Disgusting if true! You do not trade Randle or any of our young guys before seeing what they can do in Luke's system.
