I see Randle like this: He is physically overpowering, strength, speed are incredible. Along with that he has amazing dribbling and passing skills. His rebounding alone makes him valuable. He had to overcome a major injury and even worse terrible coaching. A good coach, and I believe Luke is, will find all kinds of ways to get positive results from an athlete like Julius. He has a great attitude and work ethic. All hat countered by he needs to work on his shooting. Odds are good he has been doing that. There is not a team in the league that wouldn't love to have Julius. I'm on the cornerstone team.
i think it's best not to engage much further on these things, as i end up feeling like i'm trolling or something.
Amazing is definitely an overstatement, but I would say his passing developed quite nicely over the course of the season.
Randle still has some rough edges to his overall game which have been objectively touched on...and he'll work on it. From what I have seen, he looks to be one of the more focused of the young core. Randle's not completely terrible as there are bigger stiffs out there collecting NBA paychecks but let's see how he performs under a new system and a more capable coaching staff. Technically, I more lean towards considering last season to be his rookie one.
i consider it a rookie year in terms of adjusting to the speed of the game, defensive awareness, and things of that nature. but projections of growth for rookies confounds these factors with physical factors. in the latter sense, randle wasn't even an nba rookie when he was a freshman in college, if that makes sense.
I'd say he was in a worse position than a rookie, unable to play basketball for 8 months. Anyone that plays competitive sports knows how hard and long it takes to get back in rhythm after a long absence. The first part of the season was basically a rehab.
I don't even want him taking those mid-rangers anymore. His shot looked infinitely more natural from deep. His mid-range looked like a chore.
LOL yeah and then when his rehab and work to get back to where he was prior to his injury physically and mentally .... finally was complete in Nov and he was blowing up stats wise and confidence wise.... Boron the a-hole benches him. Because he really wanted to bench DAR and teach him a lesson, and figured it would look better if Julius was benched too. Nance could have gotten increased minutes and experience that he needed without having to f*** Julius over like that after all he had been through.
Yet the Randle haters conviently don't mention this. I never understood the hate. The kid averaged a double double as a rookie after missing an entire SEASON what more do you want? If he just marginally improves his three point shot he's probably a 15-10 player.
I disagree, I want Randle to take the shots whether those are mid range or post hooks that he has been putting a lot of work in. I trust the process and the work Randle does to improve weaknesses in the game. I would never tell a player to never take those shots again after what he's shown us in his first year of play despite had bad the percentages are. Not fair to him and not fair to his potential of what kind of player he could be one day.
I was being a little flippant. You're right obviously. He needs to take open jumpers. I just think he's got a more natural shot from behind the line for some reason. It seems like a shot he's more comfortable with and it's more valuable to us. His dribble pull-ups were not good. I'm sure he's working on it though.
Don't mind him not playing in Summer League. He's still practicing with Team USA and glad to here he's working with a shooting coach.
I think he means... he does both in the mornings? Maybe Julius weight trains, then shoots in the mornings and conditioning at night?... Not very clear.
