Well, whatever the reason...there is no way Luke didn't talk to JC about this and make sure he was all good. And there's just no way this goes beyond experimentation...so it's nbd I think.
JC isn't the brown noser that DRuss is. Jordan should have claimed he also played as Luke in NBA2K and dominated.
Exactly ... I can't be more pissed that when I heard/watch some coaches experimenting during the regular season ... What did you do during the boring and long preaseason then ?
I know a lot of people don't like having JC off the bench and starting Lou, but the more I think about it, and watch the squad play, I like the idea. JC is a much better spark off the bench than Lou because he can create for others as well as himself. It also allows Russel to run the offense while knowing he is the primary scorer. As long as JC finishes games over Lou, and gets more minutes, I'm good with it.
If we're going this route, we nesd to package Lou and whatever else for a bigger SG. Lou will get killled defensively over an 82 gane season. The bench unit would be playing from behind every game.
The problem with Lou in the starting lineup is when he's holding the ball in his hands instead of Russell. As long as Russell asserts himself as the "alpha dog" and makes sure Lou knows that he runs the show, it should be okay. Lou should only have the ball in his hands in catch and shoot or cutting action.
Better than Iggy at this point in Iggy's career?? Aside from man muscles .... maybe. Certainly not lacking for quickness nor repertoire of offense. Defense it looks like Luke and staff have definitively already improved the hell out of him. Byron was such a blowhard "old school" wannabe Pat Riley with no substance. Didn't actually teach Clarkson "jack" on the defensive side of the game. Luke and staff one short off season and look at the difference.
I was just referring to a starter quality player coming off of the bench. He chose to mention Odom as a Laker and someone he played with versus where he was coaching last year and Iggy. Just pointing that out. I thought was interesting for some reason, but I wasn't really comparing anybody.
Oh I know. I was just running with your example and how pertinent it may become with Luuke attacking other teams with all that he already has stored away in his NBA Coach data banks.
I'm wondering how much was JC's own work ethic, though. Walton says he didn't really /do/ anything with JC regarding his defense. I think it may be mostly his own doing.
That's a problem with Lou in general. It's going to happen anyway whether Lou is starting or coming off the bench. Lou will be initially going against better talent as a starter, but JC will often be going against worse talent as a bench player, so it's a wash as long as JC still gets the great majority of minutes.
