If you look up the words 'one dimensional' together in the dictionary there is a picture in there of Brian Cook. True story.
I thought this was one of the best games I've seen from Jordan in a while actually. He was tremendously focused on his drives to the rim and while he's on the light side he fought hard defensively. Golden State tried to go at him a few times in the post with Durant and Thompson and Clarkson held his own well enough. This was the kind of game he needs to have more consistently. If he did, we wouldn't need to worry about trading him.
From BI to JC, Magic sure put some lofty and detrimental expectations on these guys! He should STFU cause we don't want our soft-a** youth to bust their a** in becoming great players. We, the practical fan base, know that our young guys are mediocre and they should revel in that mediocrity instead of bettering themselves. #DatTradeValueTho
Send him to BK to join forces with his buddy DLo. Nets have a heavily protected 2018 1st round pick from Toronto. Then package that pick along with Randle in any potential Deng dump. The Cats and Blazers don't have cap space to acquire JC for a pick, without paying a tax, so BK seems more likely. Btw, I'm all in on the #2018plan now. I like our youth but we easily have 5-6 wins this year with a star/closer on the roster. I'm doing anything at the opportunity to bring in 2 of those guys and even if we trade some of our youth to do it, there's still some of that young core that will hold over after trades and FA signings.
None of those three teams have a way of clearing all of Jordan's contract for what it's worth. We'd have to take back some form of a longer-term salary.
dumping this guy n randle just to make space isnt a great move imo.....we're already pretty bad with their production, id imagine this gets 10x uglier w/o jc/jr. our payroll could have 3 max space but no self respecting max guy is gona join a 20 something win team
I get dumping JC and Randle for the 2018 new old plan but I wouldn't do it until the trade deadline. They are arguably our most productive players, trade them now and we will look so bad out there. To preserve cap space we wouldn't be taking back helpful talent as well.
I hear you alam and you absolutely have a point. But I think you can go get scoring once we get our #2018plan endgame secured. The Knicks waived Kuzi to make a roster spot for Noah. Heck, Gerald Green is still a FA if we need to look for a one tracked scorer...or heck, why not Sasha aka the Slovenian mamba. So we can target current FAs with our room exception (4.3M). Look to Chicago to get them a Deng dump (via BK pick ie JC/Randle/maybe Zu) and bring back a disgruntled expiring Mirotic and a future pick. Also, with a deal like that, you create a trade exception and we can bring in some more scoring that way as well. I think the mentality is you get off of Deng and then worry about the rest next. But don't get me wrong, I wouldn't overcompensate the other team just to move off of Deng. We still need some young stags to remain in the stable.
No kidding. A trade like that would kill this season and the 2018 plan as well. A 20-win team with cap space for 2 max slots would be a laughing stock of the league. And it wouldn't be worth watching a single game past that trade.
