Since the age of 26, JaVale has avg 15.8mpg, 11.1mpg, 10.9mpg, 9.6mpg, 9.5mpg and 22.3mpg. Last year he started in 62 games and in the five years before that, he started in 34 games. So clearly there’s an outlier and seeing how that coach isn’t really exemplary in his craft, I would say McGee is closer to a 10-15mpg center as of late. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mcgeeja01.html As for moving him to the bench as a high energy sub...I’m all for it. That’s been his role and it should remain his role.
yeah i'd rather have MCG off the bench and he should accept it as he'll likely play better with Rondo/Caruso/KCP/Kuz lineup as he can be a true rolling big man.
I wonder... when Kuz and Rondo are back healthy, if we should have a bench that runs with McGee in the middle. Gives us another dynamic like the bench mob 2008-2010. Not exactly run but play at a much faster pace than with Lebron/AD out there.
hmmm...i thought his lackadaisical play on both ends help put us in a hole, but maybe i was being too harsh.
Mostly trying to find his place in the offense where he doesn't really have one and making sure he doesn't get lost defensively. McGee isn't trying to do too much and learning to mesh with mostly new personnel.
Well the team outside of Bron really showed up late to the party. So saying he was the second best player out there for 3 quarters isn't necessarily saying a whole lot, but the award has to go to someone.
working on promoting for his next contract - interesting times we live in. Aren't OTHERS supposed to do that for you?
He had a pretty good game though, much more reminiscent of last season’s pre-pneumonia McGee. Probably his best game so far this season overall.
As I said, I'm not really worried about McGee. Nice game last night. McGee and Dwight are turning out to be a very solid center rotation. They don't both have to have great games although that would indeed be wonderful. I like that they are supportive of each other as well.
Definitely his best game yet. Energy was high on both ends. 9 and 10 in only 16 minutes. Stellar numbers for those minutes. It's great how fresh both he and Dwight are staying. With them bought in to their role, minutes, and supporting each other; we have the best C rotation in the league. No team can compete with the 3 headed monster, getting starter level production from both and then AD slides over his his stretch at C and the dominance continues. And if by chance Boogie comes back and is in game shape at all during the post season, you can cap each at under 20 minutes and at that point, rest of the league might as well tap out.
He sat almost right after the jump ball cause of fouls. Rebounded with a nice 3rd Q though. One thing I've noticed is Bron makes a concerted effort to get him involved starting the first and third quarter. Gotta keep the big fellas happy.
his third quarter feast around the rim was really important, imo. got the suns rethinking their defensive strategy.
