Way too much drama from a guy considered to be a "true pro". Keep your damn mouth shut and worry about keeping Luka happy.

Since when has J Kidd been one of Bron’s closest confidants? First time I’m hearing that.

not sure, but i feel like kidd's always been very popular among the other star players. i think that's basically the only reason he keeps getting jobs.

At what point do we point out that the source of the recent noise with Dudley and our front office is coming from known Laker hater Bill Plaschke

Lot of players unhappy with Kidd as a coach as well. I pretty much agree, star player support is helpful for him to get more jobs and he didn't do bad with the Nets during his time there. The horror stories of players who have played for him though...

I think he transitioned as a head coach too soon, and would have benefited from being an assistant for awhile first. He may have done it in the wrong order, but I do think he admits being an assistant was very good for him, and he’s probably better for it.

No doubt. There's no replacement for experience

I’ve always been of the opinion that players should step away from the game for a couple of years for perspective before getting into coaching, but it’s also hard to pass up opportunities that pay you millions of dollars for doing what you love.

Especially if you think this may be your only window. Gotta stay in the game or get left outside. There are always other opportunities, but you never know.

I don’t like Kidd, dude’s always been a d***. But to be fair, he did say recently that he learned a lot about coaching today’s players from Frank, especially about communicating over confronting. I don’t think he’ll be an a****** to be honest. Whether he’ll be a successful coach with one of the game’s elite players, we’ll see.

    From the Athletic

    Broadcasting?

I've said all along I thought he was the triple threat and could pick whatever he wanted when he retired-- coaching, front office, or broadcasting.

But if he was expecting either a Haslem roster role, front row assistant, or a front office position and we offer him a broadcast gig.... yeah, I would have left too. Thought we could have done better by him and for him, especially how close he was to our stars and the work he put in to help get our 3rd star

still very curious about this whole situation. we absolutely trashed our chemistry last year to bring in drummond (supposedly at lebron and AD's request), and then we don't bring dudley back despite them both basically freaking out about him leaving. and his roster spot goes to an undrafted rookie?

feel like there has to be more here.

Yeah, I don't get it. If it's for Wes or Ennis.... completely understand. They want all 14 to be able to play competitive minutes. But for a rookie we already have under contract. :KobeConfused:

Bron brought in Melo and played a huge part in bringing in the 3rd star, but left out in the cold on the Dudz decision? Doesn't add up.

I didn't want Dudley back as a roster spot but broadcasting? Couldn't find him a spot on the coaching staff?

Come on. From that Westbrook Athletic article:

I think Dudley is a quite a bit of wind... with some veteran presence. It doesn't mean he has any coaching chops and it would be a bit disrespectful to offer him a "coaching" job of being a "ball boy" at practice.

Wow Zen that's a pretty negative take. Kidd wanted him enough as an assistant coach to put him on the bench. Scoreboard.

tbh, before dudley came here, i always thought of him as kind of full of it, too. had a lot to say about stuff that wasn't his business, imo. but his teammates have loved him everywhere, and that has to count for something.

i think dallas's approach has been clear: forget xs and os, they want to be a place viewed as player-friendly. we'll see how that works out for them, but you can't argue that they've been an absolute backwater for free agents for whatever reason.

I think that's just how his personality comes across. Like you said, his teammates love him and sing his praises and he's played with everyone...Nash, Grant Hill, Amare, Booker, Greek Freak, Wall, Bron, CP3, JO, Beal, AD, 'Do,, VC, Shaq, Granger, Jamison, Redd, Chandler, Adam Morrison, and dozens more.
