One of the most intelligent guys out with respect to basket all IQ;, excellent teammate, good locker room guy, etc. That said, if he wants a roll on this team next season he needs to go into coaching.
Slim Dudz. Luckily his game doesn't rely on any speed or athleticism. I can't imagine him playing past this post season run though.
Seems like Duds still wants to play but I don't see him signing with any other team besides the Lakers. Him and Bron are apparently really tight off the court. Dudley serves no purpose being on the roster anymore as a player. Lakers could really use that spot to develop talent or have some backups. Might be time for Duds to retire and take an assistant coaching role with J.Kidd likely being gone but he has been on record wanting to have a front office role. Maybe he can work under Rob Pelinka or be a part of the scouting?
If he's going to coach, why not run him as the 15th guy and then move to coach when an interesting add appears? Dudz is the missing piece!!!
Yeah, I kinda figured that was the plan and we'd just have him retire and slide over when Reeves or post deadline buyout player (much more likely after watching summer league) was ready to join the end of the bench. All the prior reports suggested he'd be on the roster. But Haynes has some solid Laker sources, is close with AD and as far as the national reporters are concerned, he's typically solid. Can't imagine he'd be bro'ing out with Bron all summer and apart of the Russ meeting if he wasn't going to be with the team in some capacity. Maybe that was initial plan and it changed when we decided to go full on veteran ring chasing mercenary mode.
Feel like he is a big part of developing team chemistry, hope he will be with the team in some capacity.
Yeah I'm with you. Just also find a bit odd this search for another playmaker. It was a problem last year, but I'm kind of comfortable with Russ, LeBron, THT and Nunn. Don't see minutes to anyone else. And with the amount of shooters we have, don't see the point of running LeBron off-ball if not with Westbrook. But well, I fully trust Rob so we'll see
Was surprised to see Darren Collison’s name back out there. Did he break free from the Jehovah’s Witness reason for ending his career? Allegedly.
The only thing it can mean is that AD and Bron are committed to playing C and PF more. Yes, we heard that's what they told Russ, but for Rob to be making roster decisions off that is significant. That indicates it's going to be more than just a minor uptick here and there at those positions. Also us looking for another PG makes me think they're planning on running more Nunn and Russ lineups and they want a 3rd PG who can provide 5-6 minutes every once and awhile so when that lineup sits and Bron comes back in, he's still not having to do the lion's share of the ball handling.
Dudley can hit an occasional three, get in the way defensively and provide insightful post game comments. There's a warm chair at FoxSportsNet...
