4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 assist and 0 fouls in 8 minutes tonight. Our defense was still not that great even when he was on the floor, but at least he provided some rim protection to clean up some of our mistakes.
He set some good screens and challenged some shots at the rim. I saw him put a body on someone when the shot went up also. Wish more of our bigs did that.
I want to give mins to this kid over t black. We're not making the playoffs this season, we need to develop our young guys
I'd rather give him minutes over Mozgov instead. Zu's 7-foot size makes more sense against larger starting bigs like DeAndre Jordan and Marc Gasol. I like the chemistry Tarik and Larry have off the bench.
That right there. What I see is that Mozgov needs to have limited minutes, which he can go full tilt at, and Zubac needs a taste of the action. Bringing the Zu in gives Moz the ability to give his all consistently, and not fade under pressure. We have all seen Zu show talent and flashes. Sure we have seen him get worked (limited efficacy and too many fouls), but the energy, soft hands and as was pointed out on game day his solid screens show he is worth a shot. I think conservatively 10 minutes with room to grow. We are at the edge of reaching the playoffs and likely to fall over the edge of the Niagra. Rather than seeing this as failure, let's use this weakness as a strength to develop players, chemistry and lineup. Establish the energy and cleanliness of execution (oh oh using the Kobe word). We need to claim as many scalps as possible, and prevent any free agent we try to recruit as being a sellers market. What kills me is that we are not looking like we want these matches. And that is unforgivable. The moment we do that we are nothing, and are kidding ourselves. I want to watch a franchise to see my team perform, not to see Westbrook visit. Give the kid a shot (no not of HGH either) he can do it!
Walton has already stated this season is an "audition" one of sorts with little expectations except competing hard every game. Injuries have been a factor stunting chemistry and that promising start. Good to see Zu getting some minutes albeit scant ones.
Zubac effective albeit a 'bit tired' https://www.pressreader.com/usa/los-angeles-times/20170116/281981787286191
I've mentioned a couple times how he was moving less "quickly" in most areas of the game than Mozgov, but as he gets more minutes you can see that speed picking up a bit already. It's just experience and learning and getting more of a feel for the NBA game as he gets more minutes. No earthshaking insight there but seems to be happening which is great. They have him losing another 7 lbs or so still to go. With his solid weight down low he can certainly do this without losing post area strength. Am just hoping he works most of the off season hard and doesn't go crazy with traveling to the home country and kicking back away from that routine.
Rookie wall probably. Especially playing in the D League and playing in regular games and practices in the same day.
I thought this was hilarious "so I just score on them" The article has some other good quotes in there as well:
