Has anyone heard Luke or anyone in the organization yet make reference to that? Who's going the "defensive" presence on the coaching staff?
John 3:16 saw him play and commented that Zu is slow changing ends. I noticed that a bit myself. I don't know if it is his conditioning that he is gassed or just heavy legged. On half court sets, Zu doesn't really labor in his movement and is mobile enough.
He seems to be in good shape just on his own, that's kind of my point. He said after the first game, after no playing time in awhile and like one practice he wasn't tired and could go again. So clearly when the Pros on staff start working with him with all the state of the art techniques and gear .... we should see a difference probably as soon as pre- season games. All their trick band resistance and machines and sand and stuff. Coming from him never having that in his past. He has gotten himself this far on his own pretty much with just advice and what he's picked up, with no real great facility to work in.
Yes...I really would like to know who will be handling that part. Can't be all cotton candy and caramel apples...seriously. The Artist Formerly Known as Ron Artest would be an intriguing prospect though maybe he really should get some experience coaching at a lower level first...
Nah their games not a lot alike. Bill was really mobile and could jump and really had a J to go with his big man skills. Marc Gasol seems very much the comparison hopefully in the future at this point in time for him. He even says so. He's got a J, similar game and identical body at his young age. It's crazy. The Lakers getting a 2nd chance at a 2nd great Gasol big man. :Headbang:
Someone needs to teach him a more polite way to ask for the question to be repeated if he doesn't understand it the first time or two. Rather than "What?". Of course incredibly trivial at this point..... but so easy to learn.
"I arrived in America's airport with clothings, US dollars, and a jar of gypsy tears to protect me from AIDS."
Agreed, he absolutely reminds me of Marc Gasol, from his release on his mid-range to his baseline post move. It makes sense that he modeled his game after Marc's. I think it's so apparent. What a pick up! I'm really impressed by the kid. Great find.
The Marc Gasol comparison has validity. From the small samples, Zu has better form and touch on his shot both baselines and straightaway. Defensively, Gasol knows how to position himself better though Zu has the edge in timing and anticipation with his shot-blocking. Right now it is against Summer League competition...we'll see when he runs with the real players in The League. At this point...Zu is likely not ready for prime time just cameo appearances but will be prepped for bigger ones.
All the youngins get exposed against mature seasoned vets. Even a pretty well developed Lebron did, so I'm super glad we have Mozgov and Deng in front of our two youngest prospects. 15 minutes a game will be huge for development. If they earn more, so be it.
