Bonga is obviously raw, but playing with this SL second unit isn't doing him any favors. Rathan-Mayes is too ball dominant for a non-shooter like Bonga. He'd probably look more serviceable with ball movement, though as real said, let's be patient with the kid.
sun yue sounds bout right at the moment...dude look so awkward with his running, he does have very nice long strides when he attacks the paint but so far dont see any shooting abilities or any speed/handle to brakedown his man
I don't agree. I think there's some things he does really well, especially for his size and age. He's still just 18 years old and has good instincts as a guard. He's just never played this level before, he needs time. He's going to make mistakes out there and he's going to have to learn how to play off the ball. There's so many little things he has to get: take the open jumper, stay straight up when you challenge shots, read the defense don't assume the pass is there. He's only been around the team for less than 4 days and this is his first taste of NBA athleticism. He looks how a project should look. Also, the scouting department is kind of already magic. In the last two drafts we've gotten Ball, Kuzma, Hart, Wagner, Mykhailiuk, as well as Thomas Bryant and Isaac Bonga. The last two are the only ones who might not be NBA players, but they've got the tools to get there. That's a 71% success rate on picks. There's teams in the draft that used lottery picks on useless players. The scouting department deserves raises.
The one thing I did find about him that looked good, he’s got some pretty good vision. He made some pretty passes that make you go, “Oh!”. Too bad no one was expecting them or have butter fingers. Definitely a project. Should stay in the G League to develop.
eh, what i mean is that they see something that i really don't see in this one. i could see svi or wagner or hart, even before they were drafted. but to look at bonga and see something worth trading into the draft for and bringing over immediately...you've got insight i don't have.
