A set three would be nice. I don't need him to be Steve Nash or anything, but playing off the ball he needs to be able to hit threes in the corner at least at 30-35%.
Oops, forgot to post this tweet in my last response when I said it was nice he can hit his free throws
I mean LeBron when he came into the league out of HS looked as old as Bonga looks (facially) now at 19. Lot of upside for him around the world class tutoring everywhere he turns in this Lakers organization now to be a really interesting and effective player in one or two years which will be 3 or 4 before his prime. Now we need to watch his progression curve and hopefully he can get a lot of that with the South Bay Lakers.
Woooo .... Bonga! And Moe for getting back on the court in a real game again. Did not know they were playing today. Will have to pay attention now and catch some of these. https://southbay.gleague.nba.com Looks like Moe a lot of rust with shots but 21 minutes, 6 reb and 3 assists.
I’m glad for the kid, he looks night and day different compared to his summer league play. Looking more fluid and comfortable in his body, I hope in time he turns into a useful bench player for us.
...fill up physically and adjust to the speed. Otherwise, good potential to be a second lead guard. Unselfish...then those quick hands to poke and play the passing lanes.
Lonzo Ball: Why are you guys drafting point guards and signing quality veterans that play my position?
Dominating the development league doesn't mean anything as we have learned over the years. But it certainly helps him get his confident right and work on his game so I'm happy he isn't struggling in the G-League, that would have been a bad sign. With that said, he looks like a year away from being a year away. Given how we threw Thomas Bryant under the bus makes me nervous with regard to this guy's future with the Lakers.
thomas bryant isn't exactly tearing it up. bonga looked way better in the preseason than he did in summer league. i could see him starting to get into games next year if the progress continues as it has. starting to seem like his initial adjustment was a real shock. if there's a place in the league for ntilikina, there might be one for bonga.
^I'm not saying Thomas Bryant is good. I'm just saying we had no intention to develop a long term prospect. Bonga would be a long term prospect. You look at our drafts the last couple of years and we have mostly went with 3-4 year college players like Nance, Hart, Kuzma, Clarkson etc. Only with the #2 picks have we chosen freshmen. And one can argue all those picks overachieved while all freshmen underachieved.
It's always easy to dismiss the kid. That's okay. He's proving ya'll wrong. The thing is, no matter what he does right now it won't impress some of you. If he dominates, "who cares? it's just the developmental league". If he struggles, "see? wasted pick. we should have gotten ___".
It was "only" DLeague highlights, but he actually looked quite good. Much better coordination, fluidity and athleticism than I would have expected from him. Looked a lot better than during preseason. I'm causiously optimistic about this kid, he seems to have the tools after all - now is the time to work your butt off and prove Magic right.
