I dont have any source or anything on Magic loving Bonga, just a suspicion based on our urgency. Hopefully I'm completely wrong and the Buss/West duo just loved him that much.
MT with the great questions as usual and Jesse with great answers. Loved the rationale at the end on how they were thinking in taking on a project like Bonga currently. We are in such great hands with this front office including the son of Jerry West who just rides so low beneath the radar.
It's still too early to tell good or bad. It'll be several years before we know for sure. But I can't blame our guys for shooting for the moon with this pick given our recent success in drafting quality talent
Really thanks much I had totally missed these as of yet. And yeah he may very well blossom into something from learning from LeBron and Rondo and Lonzo and Magic Johnson and Luke Walton. I would say he is in a really cool spot in life this year. Tear up the G League Bongo .... show how quick you learn and show what you've at this (cough) young age already. Sure is long enough for the new wave of tall guards. But holy crap Batman look at the moving to his right 3 pointer that Lonzo puts up in the first video starting at .52 on the clip. To me it looks like he is actually modifying a little more toward the center of his head going that way. Look at his great hops on that J. DLO and shooters like that cheat themselves somewhat. Like Kobe if he had never elevated and certainly elevated and fell back. A dying shot in the NBA it seems unless maybe those he tutors for free and ..... who else these days falls back on their Js as needed?
...caught the last 6 minutes of the game to see Bonga play. The good: - a drive with a nice spin move and a high bank off the glass for a score. - slick no look pass to a cutter that should have resulted in a bucket. - slapped the ball off a Nugget player playing tight defense on a pick and roll creating a turnover. The bad: - passed up a potential game winning/tying shot in the last seconds.
The game looks too fast for him right now, but I still see the bones of an NBA player in there somewhere. When he's in positions that he's comfortable, he looks fine. When he's uncomfortable he looks dreadful.
his movement look hella weird to me...the way he run looks like someone who grew a whole ft over night
