He still gets a pass from me because it's only year 2 as head coach and there aren't better options out there anyways. I think next year is really where we can get a good look at his coaching because he'll have healthy roster, a full training camp, and the added pressure of being a contract year.

He's signed with the Lakers for another year. They were thinking about contract extensions this year. Personally, I would like to see how the offense is by mid-season before a contract extension. Plus, with J.Kidd likely getting a head coaching gig elsewhere, Vogel will have a lot to prove before getting an extension.

Defense is great, borderline amazing when locked in. But please Please PLEASE find someone who can implement an offense. Sick of seeing the same thing every time down the court.

Yeah despite the fact Lebron and AD are going to play their type of ball , we need more creativity on O .

    1) Players need to MOVE/secondary actions need to be run when AD and Bron are doubled
    2) more PNR , you can be creative too here , don't think I've ever seen a PNR with AD as a ballhandler and Bron as a screener , we can try it

One another major pb is about playing the right lineups to maximise Lebron and AD .

    In one word SPACING .

I didn't like him this year. Off was horrible.

Didn't manage well Schroder, giving him too much minutes and always keeping him in the starting lineup when he played bad.
Didn't manage well Trez, who vanished from the rotation and didn't play much with Gasol or Schroder who seemed a good fit.
Didn't manage well Gasol when Drummond came, I think he could be a centerpiece in offense playing top of the key and barely saw that during the year.
Also could have gave more minutes to THT, Mckinnie and McLemore, specially with the teams struggling.

We also seemed to never have a proper gameplan and looked too dependent of AD and LeBron.

Our defense was top notch the whole year, specially during injuries. Kudos to him for that

Idk how good his offensive chops are, but if Kids leaves, he'd be an upgrade as an assistant.

I think Kidd is definitely out the door.

I believe Clifford was more of a defensive guy but he did get a lot out of a very limited Magic team.

We have more of a problem with having too many guys, that are incapable of creating their own shot off the dribble. We rely too much on James to get guys good looks. AD doesn't pass the ball well, he definitely struggles against double teams in that regard. A lot of these guys look like a fish out of water if they are forced to put the ball on the floor and make a play. Look around at the teams still playing, they all have multiple players that can create a shot for themselves.

Yeah, I'd also look into promoting Handy and keeping him long-term.

Yeah we are too much into the " 3 catch and shoot (in theory lmao) and D" type of profile when it comes to role players .

We need a guy who can put points on the board on his own , even if he sucks defensively

Can't agree with that assessment. Kidd was no great success as headcoach, but Memphis was relevant and had it's best years under Lionel Hollins. It was not his fault that they never went far in the playoffs.

they hand talent and he didn't do much with it on top of coaching one of the worse offense then too, slow pace with no creativity n he failed as a net HC as well

If we lose Kidd and he wants to prove it on a pro level, I'd be interested in adding Penny to the bench

Damn. Vogel thinks Kidd is one of his best friends. I mean, they can't be that close if Vogel can't hear Kidd sharpening his knives. Kidd will have 6 knives in his back before Vogel knows what happened.
