Classy response from a guy not considered all that classy.

Vogel might be able to scheme Gobert properly for the playoffs… Hibbert 2.0

He should hold out for that Toronto gig whenever Nurse gets canned. Think Vogel is a better coach for a contending team than a rebuilding one.

toronto is likely to go into a rebuild this offseason though. but i agree that houston wouldn't be an ideal destination for vogel. they were one of the worst defensive teams this past season and vogel isn't really a developmental coach. he's someone you hire when you're already a playoff contender or on the verge of contending

i'd keep an eye on philly. if they lose in round 1 i wouldn't be surprised to see doc fired and that would be an ideal landing spot for vogel. chicago too, assuming donovan is gone

I think they’ll give it another go this upcoming season. Maybe shuffle their roster a little bit. A lot of their key players are under contract or have a player option. Raptors that is.

i'm surprised vogel didn't take a high profile assistant job. i think that's his path back to a desirable hc gig. think terry stotts route. maybe he feels like his ring should allow him to bypass that step, but i'm not sure about that.

if he makes their offense look terrible, then the naysayers will have all the ammo they need to have justified the long past decision to move on from him. Should be an interesting fit.

We all saw how well Ham did with Russ lol.

Vogel was scapegoated. Just as long as they don't go get Russ, he will be alright. Hope the best for him. He was a class act, even after being fired, another reason never to burn bridges.

His success will depend on whether or not he has the roster to defend or.not .

Let's just say Suns FO has a lot to do

wonder if vogel will force them to use all their slots on d-first guys (which would be wise, imo).

i wonder if this is like the ham situation in two respects:

    1. vogel got the job by saying he'd commit to making ayton work.
    2. everybody knows it's not going to work and ayton will be playing elsewhere by march.

Could be. I think it's different because Vogel didn't hate Russ, probably hated being hand tied in how he was directed to use him. Monty visibly hates Ayton, ostracized him from the team, went away from him offensively and benched him when he could.

Vogel likes bigs, I think he can get Ayton to re-engage and at the very worst build up his value for January or Feb and they can flip him then if Vogel can't salvage it.

The team could also have new voices with KD there during a camp and depending what happens with CP. That could factor in to the team's relationship with Ayton.
