Very well articulate explanation of why Russ gets benched and what the team expects from him

"I have earned the right to close games."

    How, exactly?

I think he's the perfect Lebron enabler and help him gets his stats. Other than that he's not gonna be helpful

Love frank… but I can’t defend him all the time. I don’t understand the starting Ariza over Stanley Johnson, and I don’t understand why Johnson and Reaves are getting less minutes than AB, Ariza…. Those two young bucks should be getting around 28+ mins every night.

His love for AB has likely cost him his job next season. Oh well.

today's foil helmet theory is that lebron and AD are trying to get vogel fired, like, yesterday. new coach for the last 20 games allows the team to re-up the russ experiment for last, desperate, terrible ride, which then forces a russ trade in the offseason. this way, they get to look like they stood up for russ when the coach benched him while also orchestrating his exit.

    They don't want Vogel.

Dude, I think they communicate more to Handy than they do Vogel (just a guess).

    They quit on him.

    Vogel is gone this summer.

    Kurt, lol.

    Goodness.

    This FO is a joke.

Well, as long as they don't give Rambis the coaching job, I'm good.

These guys want Handy or Fiz (Klutch).

Still, Kurt telling anybody their job isn't safe is quite funny and kind of scary.

    Lol.

Yeah, Vogel is gone. That much is clear. Bottom line is even though this was Lebron AD and Russ’s idea the FO gave up too much to make it happen, that led to ownership going cheap on Caruso, Rob went too crazy with the complete roster changeover and they put Vogel in the worst possible position as a lame duck coach with no significant extension. It’s like the FO and the stars were conspiring to get him canned.

But at the end of the day that’s the coaching position in the NBA. When the team does poorly it comes down on you. The franchise players aren’t getting traded and the FO isn’t getting fired. The coach is.

While Vogel has his faults I cringe to see who they install next. Could be very rough.

Yeah, I agree here. I think he's gone. Maybe it's unfair to him, but it's gonna happen.

It better be Handy as interim coach and not Fizdale if they fire Vogel in season. Handy won't give a f*** and will play and substitute who he thinks is going to win games for him or they'll sit. If they let him go at the end of the season he will go somewhere else and have used the opportunity for a better gig as he will always be in demand. And he will be another BAD consequence of the horrid off season we had. I REALLY, REALLY want Handy not freaking Fizdale.

it's funny that everyone criticizes vogel's hoop iq...but wants a guy who's been primarily a player development coach to make all the choices.

    okey dokey.

They all sit around the table and scheme. Would you rather a LeBron yes man in Fizdale who will have no balls because he wants the job next year?

I would want Handy over Fizdale. Or poach Dudley from the Mavs. To me, there are two basic kinds of coaches in the NBA; Xs & Os guys like Pop, or Carlisle, and Culture guys like Riles and Phil Jackson. Vogel is an Xs & Os guy. He's good enough to get us a trophy when the team roster and culture is strong. But right now no Xs or Os are going to rescue a toxic culture. I think someone who can change the the tone of the locker room is needed. We are not going to trade Russ, and Vogel has lost him. Someone like Dudz or Handy might just turn the tide.
