we're about to turn the corner and will rip off 10 in a row. I called it first (This is just a reminder) Too early to write this squad off.
i think he is. i read that piece a while back wherein he reflected on the past few years of his life, and i think fiz had something of an epiphany. he was on the wrong path, and i think he's in a more positive frame of mind. that doesn't mean he's a better coach, but it probably means he's being honest. i was happy for him when i read that, tbh. seemed like the "rising star coach" stuff got him living the wrong way, and he fixed it. i don't think he has designs on frank's job, even if it is likely he'll get it.
So I guess tonight’s small ball lineup was Fiz’s tribute to Pringles since we were in Houston. :Melo Defense:
So, now that we are 1-5 under Fizz, what happened to all the peeps claiming the poor play was due to the bad Vogel rotations?
Fiz’s rotations are worse. Doesn’t mean Vogel doesn’t use some awful lineups sometimes. Also let’s be fair, look at who we are playing out there. Before today no Ariza, Bradley, Reaves, before that no Monk or Dwight. I didn’t expect us to lose 5 in a row, but I didn’t expect us to be great with Isaiah Thomas, Jones and Jones, Collison, Brown, Huff, etc.
Fair enough. I just can’t get past the fact that collectively, this team gives such little effort on the defensive end and yet many skip past that important factor to pile blame on the coach- the same coach who has proven he can teach guys, who are willing and dedicated, to play Championship Level Defense. This team gives up the third most points of all the NBA squads. I honestly can’t remember throughout my 35 years of Laker fandom, watching another group of guys care as little about one half of the game as these guys do.
There's certain lineups that just SINK us and the coaching staff needs to step up and pull certain players if they don't have it. Melo should have played like 12 minutes tonight once it was clear he was off. The Grizzlies put him in every action whenever he was in the game. THT should NEVER be on the floor at the same time as Westbrook. Adams was just camping out in the lane without a care in the world down the stretch.
