i was trying to think whether we'd even seen that lineup in the preseason.

i liked starting walker and didn't think he was as bad as everyone else seems to think. i don't think we can start beverley.

I don't think Walker is bad. I just think everyone needs to set reasonable expectations of what he can and can't do out there. He's been a bit better than I thought though and does seem to be putting in the work.

Beyond that, Ham seems to be trying to put together the best group of guys he can and is running into some of the things Vogel faced. There's just a reality of the capabilities of some of our guys that can't be schemed around.

the team tried hard until late

results weren't great, but the effort didn't completely suck

    I'll wait to see Cranjis.

Although his advanced stats on Bev lied to me.

But I love his breakdowns and what the Lakers are trying to do conceptually by design that they're just not executing.

Gives me more of an idea.

when i squint i can see some of the 4-out stuff, but there's such an emphasis on trying to keep the paint clear that folks are afraid move off ball.

i actually thought things looked crisper in the first couple preseason games, tbh.

and it can take a while to get acclimated to read-and-react offenses, which is why the triangle confounded newcomers quite a bit.

I'd love to see the practices. They must be wild for Jones to be buried on the bench and for Matt Ryan to be a significant part of the opening night roster.

That starting lineup needs to never see game together again. Bev isn't a starting caliber player but needs to play with the starters. Russ needs to go to the bench, injury risk be damned. Walker can start, but I'd prefer to see him paired with Nunn off the bench. Reaves needs to start but probably won't with this iteration of the roster.

right???!! how did jones go from presumptive starter early on to "never play under any circumstances"? i need to know! where are the leaks?!

agree on all this. neither bevs nor russ can start, imo--especially if we're doing AD at the 5 to start (which i still don't love at all). if that's the game, russ and bevs come in together with a rim-running big like jones and two guys who can shoot to play second units.

oh s*** we don't have two guys who can shoot.

I agree about Russ and Bev. They start we are going nowhere fast. Big disappointment in Ham's first game. Hopefully he changes up and all of his talk in the off season wasn't just a bunch of BS. We want Lebron and AD to score easier and to have some help on both ends Reaves has to start and play big minutes. Ham keeps starting Russ he loses all credibility and turns into a bad hire. I don't mind waiting for the team to come together and gel but it won't happen without the right lineups.

Rookie coach is acting and trying to fit in with the boys is why exactly I was against the hiring. He’ll be more pressured to play over the hill/loud abrasive non fitting players to the more complementary guys like Austin and Nunn.

Yeah. I’m not a fan but I guess we’re trying to see if they can play better and hit more shots. I doubt it but we’ll see.

I don't understand. What happened to the moron coming of the bench? I am losing confidence in Ham by the minute.

Ham is a f***ing fraud then. Or we are trying our best to "showcase" Russ for the in-20-games-trade.

If the latter is the case, we are better served by just playing old Russ highlights during the timeouts... cause his current play will may be get him to play for a DII team.

Welp... What's the point of putting Ryan on the floor if there are absolutely no plays to get him free in any way... He's not gonna do anything else.
