I'm guessing they don't want a repeat of the Vogel situation

Waiting on the time honored Friday afternoon news dump?

You know, it's either that or make the firing before your game is over.

I think Jeanie is genuinely a kind human being. So rather than let him twist slowly for the next 6 weeks MUCH MUCH MUCH sooner.

OK OK OK ..... before May 15

Same. I think Handy is the most logical thing and it is also the least disruptive thing we can do.

I’m not sure Handy is right for the HC job, but he’s earned enough of my trust for me to be ok with the hire.

    I wouldn’t mind JJ either

Hell no to JJ, who didn't even mention AD in his NBA defensive awards voting.

That's right. He compiled a list of DPOY candidates (and voted for Gobert) and ALL-D teams that in total mentioned nearly 20 people.

AD was not one of them. His name wasn't even on the "outside looking in" type of list.

    Hell no!

I want Rondo in any capacity on the bench, we need to have that basketball mind/savant

Handy is my #1 option. But I really want the FO to bring in a top offensive assistant (Stotts type) and a top defensive assistant (Vogel type). The Phil Jackson era was like that. He handled the team's mindset, but he let Tex handle the Triangle Xs and Os.

Frustrating that we didn’t fire Ham and promote Handy to interim coach during the middle of the season

We probably end up with better results, but most importantly it allows you to audition Handy. If he turns out to not be HC material, there are no issues with cutting ties and moving on this summer.

That’s what makes me hesitant to sign him this summer. You’re going to have to sign him to a multi-year deal, and if he ends up not being great, you’re still kinda obligated to keep rolling with him because it would look terrible to fire another coach so early

Oh s*** I forgot about that. It’s unbelievable he thinks that way …. moronic even on the subject. Am sure AD well aware and makes him a non starter for the position I would think. LeBron liking him or not. Did James call him out at least somewhat on it I hope?

Not sure what the delay is about. I'm taking care of business 10 minutes after he's off the floor for the last time.

    But I'm cold like that.

lol... the delay is... we were not planning to fire him and didn't line up any candidates interviews.

now, we can't not fire him and we will either drag this out or make a rush decision under pressure.

    dumb orgs are dumb

i guess to make it look like they're considering options. or maybe they actually are considering options.

i do agree with helljumper that elevating handy now is definitely more fraught than it would have been in february.

we're bad at managing our coaching situation. that much is abundantly clear at this point.
