I think Rob keeps us legit filled with talent, but we need the right coach to manage it whether it's contending or rebuilding. Ham seems to be a fit for a very specific roster and situation only. I don't see him being able to change on the fly. Just doesn't seem to be in his DNA.

i think any time you lose a star (kobe last time, lebron this time) for nothing because they retire/get injured, you're doomed for a period of time. this is why danny ainge pulled that nets trade--if he just kept all those aging stars, the C Bags would still be rebuilding. that said, that nets trade is also a big part of why no big stars really want to play in boston, so it's a double-edged sword.

i don't know what rob's work will look like, post-lebron/klutch, tbh. i feel like i've seen him do enough good things not to be terrified about it (e.g., i think getting out of the westbrook situation like we did took savvy and patience), but don't have enough evidence to feel confident about it (we've done several dumb things, regardless of who had influence).

i DO think ham's had a fair shot, though. and he certainly hasn't shown me anything to think he's the right guy to lead the team heading into uncertain times. maybe he'll be like mike brown and find a team that suits his narrow strengths that he can lead to mild success. we're not that team with that aim.

He is fit for working on a garbage route. Not as a truck driver or even a dude that handles the bins.

    No. As a bin.

Gee, I don't know, maybe don't scheme to limit paint points against a top 3 point shooting team. That's a good place to start. Maybe don't direct guards to help when AD is guarding someone in the post. Try different matchups. If Bron can't or won't get to Barnes on a DHO then switch him on Sabonis (apparently some of the beat reporters have mentioned Bron is sick).

Who did this imbecile impress, reportedly, with his Xs and Os during the interview? Jeanie's hairdresser's chihuahua?

    Unbelivable.

back to the mike brown comp: you can know your x's and o's and have a solid philosophy...that doesn't work with your personnel. this is why i was never as high on dantoni as most folks. sure, he was innovative and had ideas that worked...as long as you don't play a center/played a certain way with certain people.

the best coaches can--at least somewhat--adapt to different players and styles. i was reading about moseley in orlando coming in and saying basically "what CAN we do well, right now?" then just leaning into that as hard as possible.

this is also what malone did in denver. he developed defensive schemes that capitalized on jokic's strengths (and thus hid weaknesses that were there in previous regimes).

He told Rob he’ll bring the Bucks winning ways to the Lakers, 1st he got Bron for the Giannis role, he’ll convince AD to take six 3s a game like Brook Lopez does, then he’ll audition every new scrub for the Middleton role. Voila! We got Prince playing 30 minutes a game:LLLLLebronlaughing:

Meh..we aren't losing games due to X's and O's. We are losing games because some guys, seem to disappear, or just come up short, against certain teams IMO.

Hate to have to admit it, but this also applies to Lebron and AD.

Does this “specific roster” exist in Shanghai because it sure as hell doesn’t in any State that hosts a NBA squad.

Is there any point waiting to sack this fraud in the summer?

We can't be any worse than we are now.

optics/not pissing off potential future coaching candidates?

there's not much he can do that would make me change my mind, though. i guess if he happened to be in the coach's seat when we went on another improbable playoff run, he'd keep his job. i see that as basically impossible this year, though.

Yeah, I didn’t need the official stat to know just how terrible this team’s defense is.
