i'm sure the jhs mob will be after me, but...we haven't really seen him play with the starters. it's possible he can look competent if flanked by a bunch of vet star-level players for a few minutes at a time, even now. he definitely looks like a strong ballhandler and general caretaker. his turnovers are usually from trying to do too much (from what i saw) rather than being harassed into it by the defense or something.

i was hoping christie would look a little better handling. he doesn't look that bad, but he's just not ready for pg duties.

the hope right now is that at least two of reaves/dlo/vincent are healthy for most games, and you basically don't play any minutes without at least one of them on the floor.

Totally agree. JHS is at the very least a good ball handler and I think we need him just in case one or two of our main guys go down. He’s also a good defender so it isn’t imperative for him to be a scorer yet (which is going to take some time and work). As we saw with that second unit we may need him as Reddish and Christie are not ready/able for that role. They are strictly 2s/wings.

Agree with he’s already a decent to good ball handler but there sure are detractors here and elsewhere who list that as included in the areas they look for to see if he does “anything” well and come away empty handed.

Yeah I agree with you, I may be jumping the gun. If JHS can give us 10-12 minutes that's enough to not break the core rotation too much. If he's in the floor with LeBron he really just needs to defend well and shoot when he's open. Our team just needs to crash the boards when he does it ahah
He shouldn't be too targeted in regular season so we should be fine

Yeah, during the game with Phoenix, Ham did that by subbing Reaves for Dlo and vice versa. It's not ideal because it messes with the natural rotation that we want to assemble and all the chemistry that comes with it. Along with reducing the minutes they play together. But with JHS for 5 minutes in each half it's fine. It can help his development too

Btw, what's JHS injury? I know Gabe has a bone bruise (hehe) but on JHS haven't caught it

I think you have it backwards. Gabe has the tight back issue while JHS knocked knees 3 games ago and caught the highly contagious bone bruise virus still around since the days of Nunn back home at the UCLA center ..... while the knee was still in that weakened state.

Check out the wink .... No. At least that we know. He did knock knees though hard enough I guess to not play the next two games.

    Ahah got it

Shouldn't be serious, hope he's available if Gabe is not (he's likely to be as well)
I think this team really wants to win this first game. We got swept so it's payback time and send a message that this year is different

We haven't won a season opener, since Lebron signed. I guess we are due, we are due to beat the damn Flippers sooner or later too..

Personally, Ham did a decent job last season. Most of the issues were exacerbated by having Russ on the team. I just hope we don't see the small ball lineups with LeBron playing center ever again. The Lakers have the wings and length to play almost any lineup they want. Those Reaves, Schroder, and D'Lo lineups were difficult to watch. Hopefully he also works on the timing of timeouts. Way too many games the Lakers would get crushed in the 3rd Q after halftime and Ham would just let the game get out of control before putting a stop to it.

Ham in the playoffs seemed like a different coach. I guess we'll see how lineup personnel related his decisions were now that he has a solid roster from top to bottom.
Can he make the right calls.
Can he make the right lineup fits?
    Can he avoid small ball?

If he rolls out AR, DLO and Gabe tonight against Denver any point in the game, we now have your new choking gifs to pop his head off and put an end to it.

Thank you … thank you … thank you!!!

yeah, though in the openers, we're basically always playing a good team that's amped up to play us. so while we have to win one someday, it's not super surprising that we often start with a loss.

the clips thing annoys me. they're always up for us, and we always look sleepy against them. just win one, man.

i think we're already seeing that he's going to use gabe as a security blanket the same way he did schroder, and we just have to accept it. i don't expect to see those three with lebron at center, though, which is good.

Guys gotta make shots. Davis, Reaves, Russell and Hachimura shot a combined 17-50. That's not going to get it done, against a good team on the road.
