I applaud him for making line up adjustments sooner rather than later. I'm not worried about offense, just defense. This team has NO problem scoring. Especially if Lonzo and Hart emerge as viable 3 pt shooters. Word is Luke really got into the guys after the 1st qtr of the Suns game due to lackluster D. Before you knew it, the game was over by halftime. I think Luke is doing OK for now. I wouldn't call it a hot seat... I'd say the seat is flammable, and that's mostly because of LeBron's mere presence on the roster.
OK. Excellent job this time around. Small ball gamble and taking Zo out with 2.30 minutes left, then forcing TO by DEN. Big props.
so now that rondo is back next game, I wonder what Luke will decide on zo to continue to start or have rondo start again.
Man I was nervous as hell when Luke subbed out McGee, but our guys swarmed on defense. Zo stood his ground when switched onto Jokic, we got boards and steals and outran them down the court for easy baskets. I’m just glad KCP stayed glued to the bench where he belongs. That bonehead let Murray blow by him for a dunk, and then had his head turned on D ball watching and got beat backdoor.
Defense, especially from Lonzo Ball, helped turn this around. Offensively, our transition game was very good, as usual. However, there were a couple of possessions towards the end that concerned me. The Nuggets came right out of the timeout at around 4:56 in the fourth quarter and got Jokic a clean look from 20 off a screen which he splashed. Then they stopped going for offensive rebounds to take away our transition game and made us execute in the half court. Fortunately, Stephenson and Ball managed to knock down a couple of 3s, but they tested our half court execution. We pretty much stuck to isolation instead of an offense, but were saved by a couple of guys who were hot, especially as James fumbled a few times too. Can't count on that every night. Lots of positive takeaways. But I am worried about that fact. Smarter teams will continue to test our halfcourt execution. And if on the road, Stephenson can't isolate like that, we will have an Achilles heel.
You and I both know that's not true. They're just struggling to find their rhythm as Hayward and Irving work their way back in. There's a difference when you run a good offense, but miss cuts, passes, screens, make wrong decisions, etc. That is fixed by time. But that is not the same as running a very poor offense with limited options, and getting bad results from it. That has been the point I have been trying to hammer home. It's just that people don't realize the offense itself is flawed. Not our execution of it.
bfc, you absolutely right. We got bailed out by two iso 3 balls from Stephenson and then a step back Lonzo 3. Obviously our defense in the 4th really made a difference and we converted those steals into fastbreak points, which is where I think we're going to be dangerous all year. But we really have no offense and that is concerning to me. We still need to get LeBron easier baskets...
Oh how I wish people would say the same thing about Luke ^ You are absolutely right. They just need time to get used to each other. The same thing we need to get better because we don't have that continuity down yet, especially on defense. WHY do some of you guys on this forum and the media have this double standard? Give Stevens a pass but not Luke
Because Stevens took his young and lacking team to ECF? And Puke did no such thing? Because Stevens has a proven ability to orchestrate offense, defense, lineups and ATO? Tell me how much more of these do you need? I am tired of "let him work and we'll see". It's an absolutely valid approach. It is not an evidence for Puke's abilities as a coach. Yet people keep using it in arguments. Bottles the mind.
You clearly did not read my full post. So I'm going to requote it and bold, highlight, and mark in red the lines that had directly addressed your response, so you don't miss it this time around. Please read my posts in their entirety before calling me out for double standards. Thanks.
bkUz hEe n0 stUrT ryTe pLAurZ Btw, found a 2015/16 chart that is interesting. So what you're telling me is if you give Luke a stable of horses that have played together, he can do some thangs out of a timeout. "Bottles" the mind.
