This. No point in dumping him unless we have a replacement lined up anyway. Otherwise we end up with Mike Brown again.

I have a strong feeling Magic is going to be very involved the coaching this summer; assistants, shooting coaches, etc.

I think he let Luke do his thing this year without much oversight. Next year, different story.

There absolutely needs to be. I wasn't excited about his assistants, but was willing to give them a shot. They suck. Luke might be a better coach than we see now, but he needs some obvious direction. He really needs a co-head coach that has a successful track record.

We do need B Shaw to get PG though, that much is clear.

Then once PG signs that 4-5 year deal, then we can talk

    Via ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk:

As infuriating and puzzling as some of his rotations are, I just can't judge Luke till we know the whole picture about free agency and this season's trade deadline, cause I suspect some of the business end is affecting his rotations.

However, if said free agents don't want Luke there, I'm sure that's all she wrote for the guy. But I think if Luke doesn't succeed with at least one star on the roster, then his time is up...till then, its going to be a feel out and developmental process. I'm patient with it, as long as we don't get washed by teams like last game. That was embarrassing and if that is how this team starts to approach the season, then Luke deservedly needs to get tossed. However, we've seen what midseason firings can do....we had Kobe, Dwight and Pau and that midseason hire of MDA was trash. They got vets in Memphis too when Fitz got ousted and that team is trash now. Can you imagine how a young team that's already flailing would react to a midseason coach exchange.

I rather wait it out and either have free agency dictate it or have next season's successes/misfortunes dictate how we handle Luke.

So... the questions on Puke's job are starting to come in... Good, good!

It's only a matter of time before The Mouthpiece is set loose. ASB I would imagine.

No coach will make this crap team look good. We might win few more games but we'll still suck.

Not the point. One that sucks at his job has no right to continue to keep it.

No need to fire Luke now. Waste of time for everyone. End of the season though, Lakers need a real coach. Someone who has an idea of what they are doing day in and day out. Someone who can be an LA Lakers coach and deal with what comes with that.

Jay Wright is my pick however an extensive selection set up is needed. Enough of the stupid picks because you like DVDs and enthusiasm. Lakers need a damn coach for the next decade who is going to know what he is doing.

Luke is going to get 1 more season, folks, IMO. Just the way it is; However, I wouldn't mind a surprise firing. That'd be nice.

Hey, I agree. For now, though, let's just 1 more season out of the lame duck coach he is and see what he can do next year. If he sucks again, next year, at least we have our pick. And trust me, they way we're playing, we're not going to be attractive to anybody which means more 1 year rentals and a poor record.

    Tank 2019? :)

i'm in favor of keeping luke, and generally in favor of the opposite of what lavar says.

i'd argue that keeping luke past this year makes sense, too. if lebron says he's coming and we must hire damon jones as head coach, that's ok, but changing coaches to just to change coaches again is ridiculous.

See at this point I start to wonder about Lonzo. Actually way before this point when he just stands by and let's his old man publicly say inflammatory s*** about his coach and even some of his teammates in a round about way a couple weeks back.

It was a short window, but Luke showed he could coach in Golden State.

There’s a lot we don’t know that goes on behind the scenes.

Lavar is a douche. He can’t help himself. He’s truly an idiot, and now he’s a nuisance.

I’m surprised the Lakers haven’t come out and just said no to all future Ball brothers now-because it means they’d hear even more crap from Lavar.

No thanks. His kids are already paying the price for him not being able to shut his trap. I want to play in Lithuania said no American high school kid, ever.

all the stuff i'm seeing you guys say about jay wright is the exact same stuff i heard when luke was first hired

there's zero point in firing luke right now. there's no replacement worth firing him for and honestly, a coaching change would not change anything. this team sucks and it's on them
