I'd welcome Fizdale but I also think the FO needs to get some shooting on this roster. It's not ALL on Luke but he's not doing himself any favors with his rotations...
i'll beat a deadhorse: the dysfunction is on the front office. i don't think any coach could thrive in these conditions: win more...but play young players, but don't play that young player too much because we probably won't keep him...but treat this one vet differently because we're trying to impress his agent. pop or carlisle would have already quit. i think it's part of why bill didn't want his son coaching here, other than the obvious reasons (little talent and unrealistically high expectations from fans and management). the front office really didn't try to build a team this summer, and you're seeing what that looks like.
Fizdale will be gone after a year if/when we suck again and it’ll be on with the next coach. We need proven talent on this roster alongside our young core, until then, we’re going to continue to suck.
Proven talent to go along with proven coach, all puke proved was he could baby sit a stacked gsw team. Potatoe head brown set an nba record in last yrs playoff n matched phil playoff record, should he be considered a great coach?
Are there any proven coaches that are readily available on market right now? To me, the coaching situation is at the bottom of the to do list. Sure we can do better than Luke, but we have more pressing issues right now like the fact that this team can’t hit free throws, suck at shooting, and lack a go to star we can rely on during crunch time.
carlisle wouldn't touch this job with a 10-foot pole. for good reason. the lakers need to keep luke if only to try and repair the organization's rep as coach killers. and again, i think luke actually has some really useful attributes for a head coach--i think guys want to play for him. problem is that we don't have people who can play, and our management is invested on waiting for superman. or even worse, supermen.
Luke is a coach from the old regime. Magic and Rob are running a different program. Luke is not a good coach. Minus the talent, he had no idea how to set rotations and has no feel for the game. Those things are not abilities that can be fixed.
He'll get another season, unfortunately. He's not really that great, though. He's cost us about 3-4 games just with stupid substitutions. I advocated for him and he deserves another season; but I'd be doing my due diligence on other assistant coaches this season and next... As far as their being other coaches available? Of course their is; just google assistant coaches that are ready to be hired and read their resume; look at the coaching tree their under, etc. There are always options. Nevertheless one thing I would do for certain is fire everyone of his joke assistants and give him the best possible staff to succeed.
Yea there are people who are available to take Luke's spot, but until we put together a team with some talent, we're going to revisit this discussion every 1-2 years. We've gone through so many head coaches since PJ.
Agreed and its part of what several of us harped on all summer long. Also for what its worth.... This thing could take a turn and actually get worse.
Not a good look to free agents... I had better expectations with Johnson and Pelinka. The ONE man who would/could fix things is with the damn Clippers.
I don't think players, their agents and other gm's take us seriously anyway. Feels like we're Philly west. What always made me feel better, was thinking that C Bags were as f***ed as we were. When they had their aging trio i always thought it will take them years to contend again. Boy, was i wrong...
