I don't like wade at all, and that's cold, man.

I'm just not interested in him... I hate him.

But that's not cool from Riley. Under 10 million? C'mon...

I can't stand HGH jaw. But still, that is some conniving lowballing Mr. Riley. He's brutal. Gordon Gekko indeed.

Honestly, if I'm Wade I don't even go back to the negotiating table after that. That's such a slap in the face to the face of the franchise for the 00s that I pack my family up and prepare for free agency. I understand the Heat are trying to build a team to contend and don't want to overpay a diminishing Wade, but an offer of that level is the ultimate sign of disrespect considering what he's done and given (up) to that team.

Riley is basically saying "Are you a ring-chaser or are you loyal to the Miami Heat? I'm offering you exactly what the Clippers and Hawks can offer you. Your choice."

That's unfair to Wade, but I don't feel bad for him. AT ALL. Maybe (even if unlikely), this example will teach some of the other stars a lesson and make them think twice before joining forces in their prime to chase rings, instead actually competing agains each other. And please keep him away from my favorite sports team, I would hate to see his gigantic jaw in a Lakers uni

^ yep. as I said earlier, those guys are starting to look over at kobe's stack of cash and think...wtf?

although I'm a bit torn because part of what creates this problem is the existence of the max contract in the first place, which is such a huge win for owners I can barely stand it.

the lesson is clear, though: you take as much money as you can, while you can. because these scuzzballs aren't going to show loyalty when you've outlived your usefulness to them.

of course, riley will just end up cheating and giving wade something under the table like he so obviously did for udonis haslem and Anthony carter. dirty bastard.

And if I'm Wade I give him the finger and say "I'm a ring chaser". Wade owes Miami nothing at this point. If it weren't for Wade, the Heat have no rings in the last 10 years and instead they've got 3 of 'em. I tell Riley to suck it and I walk out in a big public show. Pledge revenge and go into the last few years of my NBA career all fired up again about basketball for the first time in a while. Even when LeBron was in town, Wade seemed muted on the floor.

If I were him I'd go to Atlanta or Chicago for cheap. Give them some star power to fight back against LeBron AND so he can stick to Riley four times a year. Well maybe twice a year since he'll undoubtedly get hurt.

Yep. Wade has actually sacrificed for the Heat. He now wants something in return.

$8 million per year is pretty bad. I wouldn't be surprised if players see this and become a bit wary of actually going to the Heat. They want Durant? So does everybody else...except now, Durant sees the Lakers/Heat and goes, "Lakers took care of Kobe and gave him a fat contract without hesitation. Riley is trying to screw Wade." Easy decision.

Yep, this is great for LA both short and long term. I don't want Wade, but like I said in a LD thread, I'd take him over Love/Rondo. If you can get him for a rate so below market value -- less than half of his max, that's a good deal. I doubt he'd come here because even with the #2, Wade, and enough to get another starting caliber player (Carroll?), that's not going to contend for a 'ship in the West. Chicago or Atlanta (as mentioned above) would make more sense. But since it's LA and we go after big named players, we'll make a call regardless.

Long term it helps us in bidding wars with the Heat for FAs, like Durant and Westbrook. Why go play for Gordon Gekko when he's going to f*** you over the first chance he gets regardless of what you do for the franchise? LA takes care of their own. Dating back to taking care of Ronny during his heart issues to paying Kobe based off of what he's done for the franchise throughout his career. Players and agents are definitely looking at this and will avoid Miami if there are equal options on paper elsewhere in the league.

I wonder if Dragic is getting second thoughts on committing to the franchise, as well.
