Dawite had a decent 15 foot bank kind of like Timmy when he was with Orlando but he forgot how to shoot that when he came over here. He also forgot how to catch the ball and finish, and he forgot how to run the pick and roll. He didn't forget how to torpedo a locker room though.

We're a few days into this and I still hate it.

I'm not going to overthink the actual basketball implications of it since--even in our speculative scenario where Noah is better than Dwight--the gap between Coward and the other options is probably not materially all that big. And it's non-guaranteed, so if he really hurts more than he helps, Coach Kidd or Coach LeBron will give him the ol' heave-ho.

But I just can't fathom why our team (the frickin' LAKERS!!!!!) gets to be the last resort for every washouts bum 4-years past his expiration date. And Coward no less. Does leaving a team on terrible terms and leaving a rotten taste in everyone's mouth mean NOTHING?

This. This is how you get your non-guaranteed contract vetoed.

Absolutely pointless to learn this or add this in year whatever it is for him. Guy doesn’t even have a post game and he’s adding a Dirk jumper. Ok... Learn to make free throws, learn a drop step, even if it’s a harmless clip of him “having fun” it still annoys me because dude remains clueless.

    Exactly.

His trainer is an idiot too, for feeding into his delusion.

    Dumasses attract dumasses.

My body is ready for a 45 wins season and a first round exit.

I was optimistic, but it wore off.

he didn't know how to run the pick and roll in orlando either. not to mention he never had any post up game or footwork to speak of. he was so successful in orlando because he was able to outmuscle guys. he came to the lakers right after having major back surgery that robbed him of a lot of that strength

This is the kind of nonsense I was afraid of. If he hadn’t realized he’s a poor man’s Kevin Willis by now then I don't know what will do it.

Give us 10 and 10 off the bench, protect the rim, set screens, foul hard, help us win the championship and all might be forgiven.

Look, Howard has been a d******, but dang guys, he's a Laker now. Give the dude a chance. If and when he fails, then you can dump all over him. Give the dude half a chance to have some success. You know how hard it is to be successful when everyone is hoping for you to fail? It's hard!! I know you all have hated on him, so have I. But this is our chance, this upcoming season is our chance to climb out of this abysmal swamp hole we have been in for the last "too many f'ing years" and our guys NEED our support. I urge you to give that support to all our players. If they fail to live up to their potential and we have to trade or dump them, that would be the time to dump all your angst about whomever you feel that way about. Please give it some thought.

A bunch of babies in this forum lol boo hoo..

You don't like the organization giving him another shot? There's another team you might like down the hall. Grow up and recognize we cheer for the name on the front. Any player willing to come here to help us win is welcomed by me. Especially since our best players and coaches approved him. They didn't have to. They know better than you and me. Nobody is picking up Noah, Speights, or Faried. This shot at Dwight costs us relatively nothing and with no risk. We can sign any of the other bums you guys are crying over if Dwight doesn't work out. I'm more so bummed out for Demarcus than Dwight coming.

Did you not see @KuzmoBall17 's affirmative post above and me asking simply if it was pipe with the ??s? Not saying impossible. Asking if it is possible.

Dwight will get $14k a day on a 'summer' contract starting Oct 21st....and Lakers can cut him at any time with no more $ owed to him in the future.

So basically, Dwight cannot act a fool otherwise he'll be let go that same day. I like it....

I still HATE this signing...but the way the contract is structured gives the lakers a win/win scenario...if Dwight pans out, we got him for cheap. If he doesn't, you let him go and there's no strings attached (plus you open up another roster spot for another guy that may get bought out).

Will Dwight pan out? Probably not. Is there a chance that he has changed and he will redeem himself? Very very small chance...which is why we've structured his contract in such a way that allows us to reap the benefits or cut our losses whenever we want.
