That game was huge, and we will need more of them along the way if we want to repeat. Very glad he brought it though, that was a must-win game though so good timing.
24pts was nice but I want to see more than 3 assists from him. He wants to be the lead playmaker on a marquee team with 3 assists....AD had more than double that amount of assists. Playmaking and getting dimes puts a defense on their heels as no one is faster than the ball and it changes the game. Can't rely on 50% shooting from Dennis on 3s and overall night in and night out. Put up 8+ dimes and get the defenses scrambling, then you are worth a decent payday.
he also let cameron payne blow by him a couple times for easy buckets. can't have that in the playoffs. cameron payne isn't good. but yeah, nice to have any non-lebron/AD player get 20+ points.
Solid game by Dennis. Still won’t forget the many games he wasn’t good. Still, a nice offensive game and really helped us in 1 quarter with his mini run. still hoping he provides positives for this playoff run.
Foks on twitter pointing he tends to die on screens. He gives good effort but guys like AC and KCP are bigger and just better at getting thru that screen. It's one reason Payne caused so much pain, Ayton just destroys people on his screen If THT continue to improve it's just another reason not to overpay for DS. Having 3 big guards is going to be valuable with switching and the like
Dennis led the whole league in hockey assists on average (1.4) and total (86) in the regular season . Interesting
feels like a wonky stat...if a guy who gets doubled a lot gets hockey assists, i think that's interesting. not sure if this qualifies. for instance, i'd like to know how many of the assists here were lebron, and how many of those plays were simply, "dennis passed the ball to lebron, who found someone". i suppose a clear definition of hockey assist would help here, too: is it just a pass that precedes an assist, or is there a rule on timing/dribbles, etc.? those things can really change how one interprets the stat. the low total (86) makes me think the definition is pretty restrictive, which i think bodes better for its interpretability. still, though... edit: ok, curiosity bested me. here's the playoff numbers so far: top of the list makes a lot of sense, but note the players mixed in here there: guys on teams with high assist men who also handle the ball some or play heavily in those units. in other words, it's probably indexing two things for two different groups: if you're a star, it's indexing that you make good passes after drawing defensive attention. if you're a non-star, it might just mean you play a lot of minutes with someone from the above category. now, if you look at the regular season numbers, it's basically just primary ballhandlers (except paul george, and that's because the clips don't have a real pg), and the variation is pretty limited. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/p...ir=1&Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular Season
mike bibby, damon stoudamire, troy hudson, jjb...we've had problems containing tiny shoot-first pgs. vanvleet murders us now, too, right?
Get this dumb, non-PG, 20+mil-wanting piece of a scrub off of my team. His stupidity rubs off on others. For the record... i think he actively hurts this team by not being a PG in any capacity and messing up possessions.
There are many posts like this in this thread abusing Schroder. He played another solid game, he should go Kwame Brown on all these hater laker fans in this thread.
I thought he played pretty well, I’ll take those 20 points all day, plus he got Booker and Crowder ejected, had some huge shots when the Suns cut it close at the end.
