I think it would be a good idea to extend him. Very good, dynamic guard. His defense and 3-pt shooting look improved. He's young too. What's not to like? Him and Trez with AD would be contending for years to come, especially if THT becomes who we think he can become. This is enough to attract another star when the time is right. But that young nucleus (everyone is 26-27) can develop incredible chemistry this year.

i'm a little surprised he didn't take the extension, tbh. not many teams will have big money next year, and i don't think he'll fetch much more than that salary. seems like a win/win to just extend now and not risk injury for him or FA for us.

He has an excellent reason to wait until Feb 16 2021. He can get as much as $83 million over four years from us if he waits 'till that date.

The offer of 33.4 mil for 2 years was the most we could offer right now. He's worth more than Kuz. That's not an attractive offer for him.

Basically, the rule is: prior to Feb. 16. he can only earn an additional two-year contract and a 105% salary increase because he was traded in the offseason. After Feb. 16 he can earn as much as a four-year, $83 million contract extension with us. We can offer Schroder a salary beginning at $18.6 million for the 2021-22 campaign.

He gets a little fast and loose out there on both sides of the floor, that's really the closest thing I have for a complaint. Two man game and chemistry with Trez in both games has looked so much better than it did in pre season and it'll only get better as the season goes on. Having them as our 3rd and 4th punch. Man, we're lucky.

    That gear is impressive

Honestly I'm not sure I would be interested in giving up THT until they have the opportunity to see what his ceiling is actually gonna look like by giving him some real minutes. Imagine trading the next Harden type player...Not saying that he's gonna be exactly like Harden but OKC didn't know Harden was gonna turn into that and this kid is only 20!

Kuzma, Schroder and KCP with a couple pics I'd be down for though lol. Beal is absolutely nice, look at tonight-39 on 14/24 from the floor and 9/13 from the stripe. He's just getting better and he was the only player to play all 82 games the last 2 years before the pandemic so he's extremely durable as well.

Wishful thinkin though and I fully expect Schroder to do quite well here with the talent we have surrounding him. I expect him to be better then last year with this team

For sure! I hope AC Fresh can play tonight because we'll need all of our guards in order to deal with that backcourt.

I couldn’t love hearing his statement on how awesome the franchise is more. A year and a half ago or so we looked so bad with Magic resigning and so many reports of the FO being lost, the Rambii running things from the shadows, then we lost out on all the coaches we wanted and had to “settle” for Vogel, some called for the sale of the team. Now little more than a year later we are defending champs with a roster at least 11 deep and we have new players saying things like this, wanting an extension to stay here after only physically being here for what, 3 week to a month. It is so damn good to hear that this franchise has made it back to the exceptional level this quickly, Lakers exceptionalism has returned and we can be insufferable fans again. ;)

sounds like the Lakers are doing things for guys off of the court to help them maximize their efforts on it. This is like legal cap circumvention, as it has a real value to the players. To be known as an organization that cares about their players is huge. Great to see.

Had good stretches but when its 4th Q and late in games, the offense should run through AD/Bron and he should give up the ball.

I thought he was especially effective tonight. One of the lone highlights.

I felt he got caught up trying to “outDame Dame”, which is a battle you’re gonna lose. No way should he be taking more shots than AD.

if AD is playing like a gimp just off of sitting out a game, maybe he should. Not sure.

It's a tricky thing with Schroder. He's hogging the ball a little too much for a starting PG and that's why many of us wanted him coming off the bench when he doesn't need to feed say AD or Lebron off ball or give up the rock. We could use his speed, his scoring and his chemistry with Harrell in the second unit. He had a fantastic game but does it come at the expense of our stars? He was super effective out there but he was also a bit out of control. With him wanting to be the starting PG and our FO wanting to accommodate and ultimately extend him it's going to be a bit of a tight rope act I think. Good thing Vogel is good with stuff like this.

In spite of only going 175lb give or take at 6'1" he seems to be a durable little sucker. :D

1st year out of college 49 games. Probably got DNPs in there I would imagine. Maybe had an injury, don't know. From then through last year:

    77
    80
    79
    67
    79
    65 (covid shortened year)

Well, when someone talks loud and comes through, its not talking loud anymore, it's truth. He wanted the starting job and through 4 games, has earned it. Good for him.

But with Dennis in that unit Lebron (and AD, but mostly concerned with LBJ here) conserves energy which is something that has to be addressed no matter how freakish he is at his age. Dennis being a 17 pts a night kind of guy takes attention from the other 2 and now there is another guy drawing doubles and it makes for easier scores by the big 2. I think the key with Dennis is his ability to (mainly) preserve LBJ and also make it easier for AD. Kuzma giving us another 14-15pts, Gasol drawing their bigs to the outside, now teams really have problems with the offense of that unit.
