I get that you’re upset, I’m not thrilled either, but we didn’t miss out on anyone of quality for what they got paid. We missed out on minimum deal guys like WCS, Matthews, Jeff Green maybe, Austin Rivers, that’s about it. And we were offering minimum deals, so that just means they didn’t want to come here.
Take your pick, there was a lot... Gerald green Terrance Ross Ariza JJ redick Brook Lopez (don’t know if we had a shot) Aminu Julius Randle Taj Gibson Corey Joseph Wayne Ellington Bagdonvic We could’ve easily had at least 2-3 players based on their salaries now, and then filled the rest up with whoever else. In the end, im no GM, and I’m sure I’m just voicing my displeasure with this whole thing... but, I really feel we shouldve spread that money...
WCS on a minimum to Golden State was such a steal. I wanted him even as a backup. And D-Wade had a point. Why TF does Jeff Green keep taking miminum deals?
None of those players went for a cost that makes sense for our needs. Like Weezy said, we missed on a few minimum deals otherwise all we missed was spending too much money.
Only one of those players has championship experience (Ariza) and only two actually fit our needs of a shooter (Ellington/Bogdonovic). Danny has the championship experience from his time on the Spurs and Raptors, can shoot the three ball AND defend at a position we needed, SG. Ariza is way past his days now. Green can still run.
And instead we got Danny green at 15 per... we ended overspending anyway, might as well would’ve spread it out
Danny Green & Marcus Morris are as good as any two on that list.. No looking back, let's fill out the roster & let's go..
Every single one of those players got overpaid and more years than I’d be comfortable with as far as I recall. I would do it all over again exactly the same if we thought we had a chance to sign Kawhi. You don’t sign those players if you have a chance, we thought we had a chance, hell, informed guys like Carter and Stephen A said we had a chance. Jalen Rose said he was 99% going back to Toronto, nobody saw this coming. We still have $17 mil.
He was waiting on Kawhi. But also, he didn’t look fully healthy from his Achilles and quad injury this year.
With the way the market went, I’m good with signing Green at this amount. An overpay but not so horrible that we can’t move it if he’s productive.
Lakers really pleased to get Danny Green. View him as the 3/D player they desperately needed last year, and someone to take pressure off LeBron in guarding agile perimeter forwards. Were very impressed by his high 3P% as well. Contract price was higher than expected in order to make the length short. In 2 years, Green will be in his mid 30s and unable to command such a hefty salary. He sacrificed the long term security for a chance to play with LeBron James. Sees himself as someone who will thrive off the defensive attention he attracts. Of course the $30MM was a nice bonus, too.
Green is a pefect fit actually and I am very pleased with this move. Have to catch up now to see what else we did but... get JaVale and solve the PG situation now. Talk to Boogie as well.
Lol @32 year old green @15 Per... This is going to look real ugly would not shock me if it looks bad by the trade deadline... 32 is around the time players break down then noise dive big time......
“Shooters” mysteriously forget how to shoot the basketball once they don the P&G. Let’s hope Green breaks that trend.
