It’s likely he’s just not that good, he probably is mostly what he’s going to be at 24 already. Carusos and Reaves are rare, you don’t just find them all the time. Castleton likely remains a G-League/overseas player for his career, and hopefully we don’t devote a real roster spot to him. We already currently devote at least 5 roster spots to borderline NBA players in Lewis, Bronny, JHS, Hayes, and Reddish, we can’t really afford to have 6 guys that aren’t really current contributors.

He'll need to play with s motor like AC Green or Kurt Rambis to make it in the NBA. There has been some improvement but he's not NBA ready yet.

I’m not giving up on the kid just yet. I never thought his development cycle would on be just one season. I still like his handle, touch around the basket, ability to shoot the three, and defensive instincts. He still has a ways to go, but I think he can turn into a dependable backup big.

There are aspects of his game I like a lot, but the thing is he isn't a kid. He's 24. He's 3 years from his prime window and today he's between a 3rd and 4th string center. How long is that runway until he's just a G-League level center?

He has a good handle for a center. His 3 ball looks good if he's only putting up one a game. His offensive repertoire looks good. He can rebound. But his frame, weight, ability to hold his ground and defensive timing aren't there. Can he get there? We'll see. But the clock is getting loud.

The thing is, if he can do all the things you guys just listed off, he can help us now and keep improving at the same time. If we can find someone better, great. Till then, we need to maximize what we got. We are a little short on skilled bigs.

he fits the budget! But ideally he should be playing 5-8 minutes for us in a 3rd string role. Is that better than him playing 30+ minutes and developing full time in the G League?

There's all kinds of time when the Lakers are in town for 2-ways to get their 30 minutes in the G-League and those 3rd string minutes with the varsity. Often games scheduled that don't conflict with one another. In Castleton's case, having a full season of G-League under his belt plus this 2nd summer league, when they go on the road .... in his personal case I think he's better served getting those 5-8 minutes against the pro competition.

I’m twice his age, so I’m gonna call him a kid!
    :Noddingyes:
And, I’m more patient than most with our non lottery picks. If he doesn’t significantly improve in a year, than oh well, I’m not blaming our scouting department because he’s got some real skills.

Moses Brown looks better than Castleton since joining the summer league team.

I’d give him Hinson’s two way spot. He’s listed at 7’2” and 245 pounds, a legit physical presence that can eat up some boards just by being in the area

Man if we could just combine Castleton, Brown, and Traore we’d have a playable backup big lol

    Portuguese. He just owned Castleton.
He's a big body, rim roller and paint protector. Has Lively/Hayes' game with 20+ pounds

Would have been okay with him as a 3rd string center but we already have 2 on the team.
