The Lakers can't rely on luck like that. Not to mention, we already got our "karma" with D'Angelo Russell. No one owes us anymore.

I realize after their long exhaustive search to find the right coach last time they don't want to admit so soon that they made the worst coaching hire in sports history. However, the longer it goes on the worse the decision looks. This will effect the free agents we will be able to sign. With the front office showing such poor leadership and absolutely no backbone, the only free agents we will have a hope of getting are the ones that are only about money and don't really care about championships. Exactly the free agents we do not want. When you have a big gashing hole in the side of your boat and your bailing it out with a rusty can full of holes sooner or later you are going to sink. We are sinking fast. We need to get rid of our rusty old can and start damage repair now to have any hope of attracting the free agents that will fit with our young guns. The nameless one will set us back years. Management please set your egos aside and do the right thing for Laker Nation.

Part of the problem is Kobe though.

I don't think there is a coach out there that is able to reign in Kobe. That of course doesn't excuse the poor rotations, but it does kind of explain why Scott basically allows Kobe to just jack up shots with absolutely no accountability.

I think they are simply going to ride out the Kobe farewell tour with Byron at the helm, while still hoping to develop the young guns somewhat. Silver lining to them being the more they suck the more likely to keep their pick.

I just hope next year Byron doesn't return.

I mean we kind of got revenge for the CP3 nix by getting the #2 pick this year. We should have lost our pick completely but we jumped from the 6th worst record to the 2nd best pick.

The fact that he's saying he's got the support and not the front office itself coming out and supporting him gets my hopes up just a little bit ...

You're right my bad. I was thinking of the year before that we finished 6th worst and drafted Julius.

Even still last year we moved up to grab the #2 pick when losing our pick was a real possibility. I don't think anyone feels sorry for us and we have a pretty good chance of losing this pick wherever we finish.

There was a 13% chance we lost that 2015 pick and I was terrified of that possibility. Even if we got the worst record, our chances of losing the 2016 pick more than double. Losing is NOT a reason to keep Byron.

Or Boron is delusional and full of s*** (which i think he is). I can't imagine FO/Mitch saying "you're a bum" but there's no way they're happy with what they're seeing.

I was drinking coffee; nearly spat. I don't think it's THAT bad, even if it's pretty damn bad.

Exactly. We jumped to #2, had Randle fall to us at #7 and we somehow snagged possibly the 3rd or 4th best player in the draft two seasons ago in the second round. Yes, the CP3 trade being nixed was more impactful than those three things since CP3 was the best pg in the league at that time (still top 3), but we have been "repaid" for that screw job. If we were to somehow land the #1 pick and Simmons this season, I would start to scratch my head a bit and think Silver is pulling something and intentionally trying to get the Lakers in position to win again.

We have been handed a fantastic (potential wise) young core. It's on us to develop that core with a coach who understands how to utilize their talents and put them in a position to succeed. Instead we are pissing away this opportunity via Byron Scott's hose. We have Russell, Randle and Clarkson - a starting backcourt and modern NBA power forward...Black and Nance give us solid backup bigs at each spot...What more can you ask for as far as a foundation?

ESPN's Free Agent tracker has JC as the #3 SG available after this season. Wow.
