    I know and never understood what Brown had Messina doing since Brown's own offense looked horrible. Same as his defense, from a supposed defensive coach (like Bryon too) ..... looked horrible.

    Just check out what he (Jerry Stackhouse) once said about Byron Scott:

    “I don’t think Byron Scott is the best coach or I don’t think he’s the best guy to deal with — you know what I’m sayin? — from some things that I’ve heard from other players and just some dealings that I had with him earlier in the season. I was about ready to kick his a** — you know what I’m sayin? He was sitting on the sideline and we just got into a little conversation or something and he was going to tell me, you know, ‘Talk to me when you get a ring.’ I was like, I told that fool, ‘If I played with Magic and Worthy and Kareem I’d have a ring, too. So, you know, he’s a sucker in my book, but that’s a whole other story.”

    What did we do to deserve this? Did Mitch sell his soul with that Gasol trade and now we're paying for it and Byron is the reaper?

    The perfect coach to go after was Quinn Snyder; he had a prior relationship with Kobe when he was on Mike Brown's staff, young, smart, intelligent, knew his stuff on both ends of the court. Instead, we opted for Byron...

    FWIW, I want Luke, but I could definitely see a Thibs hiring as well.

    Am I the only way who actually kind of fears a Thibs hiring? He is a great coach, don't get me wrong. But he plays guys into the ground. I'd prefer Walton, Lue, or Atkinson at this point.

    I agree w/you. Nevertheless, a couple of people who know a lot more than me have eased my mind about Thibs. I'm still on your team, though. I think Luke makes sense for many different reasons right now.

    Yes, it's clearly the fault of the young guys. Calling them out will fix the problem. Meanwhile no accountability for Kobe or any of the vets. Oh yeah, and the one vet who was playing great defense, Roy Hibbert, gets benched in the fourth because . . .

    Interesting. He calls out Jordan and D'Angelo by name, but his examples sound more like Julius and Hibbert is the only one not playing the 4th now.

    Well, I guess he is saying the right things here. You should be held accountable if you don't run back on defense or follow the gameplan thus leaving teammates out to dry or confused. And you should be held accountable if you aren't willing to set screens and do the dirty work on offense too. That said, I can't blame guys for not listening to him or quitting on him either. His offensive and defensive game plans are garbage, and he does nothing but confuse players by changing lineups that make no sense or not defining guys' roles. Don't get Russ and JC being called out though when their D is decent, but not calling out Randle if you want to talk "not setting screens".

    What a s***show.

    If Byron is really being accurate in what he's saying, the guys are obviously not listening to him. Either a) he's not communicating these lessons effectively b) he has lost the locker room or c) both.

    Byron is so backwards. Shouldn't it be the rooks who get just a little more leeway for mistakes and the vets who should be held more accountable? ESPECIALLY in a rebuild? I swear it's like I'm taking crazy pills.

    See I get letting Kobe shoot, but the way he says it... Jeez...

    I mean here's the thing: if we run an offensive set for Kobe and the ball stops in his hands so he can shoot it, that's one thing. That's a play design. Instead what we're doing is letting Kobe stop the ball for no reason and try to create a shot or assist for himself. That's bad.

    Saying the ball can't stop in your hands if you're a first, second, or third year player is specifically talking to the young trio and guess what Byron! Those are your best players right now! They SHOULD stop the ball because they have the best chance at creating a play with it.

    I get that you're trying to inspire ball movement, that's a GOOD thing. But in order to do that so your team listens to you, there's no way you can just give Kobe a PASS when he's the worst ball stopper on the team. Same with Lou. If those guys are allowed to stop the ball and shoot under 50% then we're going to lose games, you're going to lose the locker room, and the young players won't develop as quickly as they should.

    Preposterous.

    Imagine Gregg Popovich saying that about Tim Duncan...

    I can't because a) He's not Byron Scott and b) Pop would NEVER allow it.

    How can you even talk about "moving and sharing the ball" when you keep letting Old Man Snake dominate it and not hold him accountable? Just because he's had "20 years of experience"?

    So against the best tandem or one of the best tandem back courts in the game if someone gets lit up like rest of league gets lit up from best in the league Curry and his pal ..... they are going to get pulled and Lou will play the point?
