I was thinking about this today. I really hope for the next one, we hire an outside firm to do the work for us. Our front office can't pick the right coach if he was under the Christmas tree with a damn ribbon on.

Jim would pick the small, rectangular, squishy gift over the large, heavy xbox-shaped gift and be disappointed he chose the underwear.

Byron Scott was one of my all-time favorite Laker players. At this point I can't even stomach the sound of his name. Honestly, it's not about the wins and losses whatsoever at this point. It's about the direction of the team. It's about the attitude he's inspiring. I really don't know what else can be said at this point. Russell is talented. He's a good player. But Scott is going to MAKE him a bust. It's as if Scott is pulling every last ounce of bustability out of him. I would give anything to have D'Antoni back right now. I'd be happy to give an iron-clad GUARANTEED 2 years to D'Antoni if it rid us of Scott forever.

This. I saw this coming in the Summer League when they implemented Boron's nonsensical offense there. WTH, you showcase your no. 2 pick overall and young players and not waste their natural talents by trying a complicated offense outright. Play to their strengths and give the fan base hope. Now everywhere I turn DAR is being labeled a bust because he is being used badly and stupidly.

Wrong coach, wrong offense for a player like Russell. Not really getting the thinking and logic behind them picking him if this is how they planned to use him. I just hope there isn't any lasting damage to him with all this crap BS is putting him through.

There will be lasting damage, if Byron keeps this up with Russell all year he'll be behind development a year compared to his peers who have been given the green light.

I believe the logic was that they saw some special qualities in him, wanted a guard, and really thought they were gonna sign one of the available bigs. Technically they did, trading for Hibbert for practically nothing, but we were never gonna get Aldridge or probably even Monroe.

Exactly ... plus Riley wasn't an external hire.

As you said , we historically suck at choosing coaches .

Russell will make or break himself. Dealing with Byron won't create a bust, that's not how it works.

McHale just got fired. What does this have to do with Byron Scott? I have no idea. But a coach just got fired so maybe lakers can do the same.

Rockets fired McHale with a better record than us and we can't fire Boron?! There, somebody needed to say it.

I'd hire him to clean the bathrooms at Staples Center, that's about it. As a former C bag I wouldn't even trust him with the locker rooms.

On a positive note with Scott: I like the way he's bringing along Nance. He's given him a chance and Nance has capitalized. I think Scott has done a good job with Clarkson. Clarkson is obsessed with becoming better, and it has shown, but Scott gave him the keys last year to perform, and he did. He's given the same flexibility to Julius to initiate and facilitate the offense. I haven't seen much progress with D-Lo, yet. However, I'd imagine he'll give him free reign when we're completely out of the playoff picture.

On an X's and O's front, he's been horrible, but he has the young guys respect, and his willing to play them if they perform. I can't wait until A. Brown gets time. Seems like another B. Scott guy...
