    OK. We need a ray of hope in the Byron thread. Here it is. Early this morning Doc's epic, on the money, Open Letter to the Lakers, in a hosted by sirron attachment was sent to the Lakers' contact us link on the web site with "Lakers Feedback" in the subject line.

    Right after the same Open Letter was sent to the PD at ESPN L.A. For starters. Maybe that is enough.

    This was the intro and that is one powerful blast of real talk.



    From one of the many knowledgeable and loyal long time Lakers fans (a real physician by the way) this post was submitted on one of the Lakers Forums following the blow out loss to Sacramento Friday 10/30. It captures to the tee the frustrations felt by most of us long time fans, in what was supposed to be a reasonably "break out season” going forward with our very promising core of young players with Hibbert added and Kobe back healthy.

    What have we done as Laker fans done to be subjected to this level of ineptitude and incompetence?

    Just because we were the blessed to have the greatest coach of all time?

    There's a mini-lovefest for Byron being conducted right now by John and MoMo on am710. Excuse after excuse. That's the one thing I don't like about John and Ramona, they are (self-admittedly) shameless Lakers apologists. I NEED STEVE MASON TO KEEP IT REAL. Geez, now they are also praising a woman caller right now for evaluating guys for her "girlfriends" based on their W-2's and where they live. I mean come on, obviously you need some money, but that part was just daytime television levels of circlejerking.

    Anyways, back on topic. I think we're stuck with Byron if their opinions are in line with the thinking coming from the Lakers brass. I have no idea how we can minimize the damage of that.

    I was in Byron's corner when he got hired. And I liked the fact that he had our team fighting last year even with all the losses.

    But this year is a different story. He's just been flat out terrible. What is in the water here in LA for these past three Jim Buss hires? They all seem to become stubborn @$$&$ and dig their heels in and come up with stupid rotations with their personnel. It's really mind-boggling to me. They have all done the exact same thing.

    It's really spoiling a potentially fun team for me. I just can't take it seriously with a bench lineup of Kelly and Bass at the same time. It's dumb and to not realize it is just unbelievable.

    I know the last thing the front office wants to do is fire another coach so quickly and normally I would agree. This situation has digressed so quickly I don't believe they are going to have any other choice. This season Scott is doing everything wrong that could be done. Alienating players, destroying their confidence and their bodies, along just being stubborn and making terrible coaching decisions or in many cases lack of decisions. We are not the only ones seeing this even if they are not acknowledging it yet. This is as bad as coaching gets and they will have to make a change.
