More time really Byron? Is more time gonna make Kelly or Bass a backup 5? No wake the f*** up. This rotation is terrible. We can't rebound, we can't defend in the interior, too slow, and neither one is spreading the court from 3. It doesn't work. ENOUGH. I refuse to believe he can be this stupid. It is painfully evident this will not work.

Also for the love of God leave the young kids out there. We're not winning many games this season which is why you have to allow Clarkson, Russell, and Julius to play together and get as much experience as possible. Let them learn. Experience is the best teaching tool for a player. These young guns are the future and they need to all be out there on crunch time and to be playing any of the backups as much or more is egregious and inexcusable.

"Old School" is starting to look more like "Outdated" with each passing game. Not a good look B.

This is flat out unacceptable, this man is hurting this team. Ryan Kelly and Brandon Bass should NEVER BE ON THE COURT TOGETHER. Sucks to be proving haters right. Silly me for standing up for this team too and telling all the haters we'd surprise a lot of people. Not the players fault though.

He didn't just sit the young guys last night. He sat them after they got us back into the game. Just inexcusable.

This is the only part I disagree with. 41 wins IMO is not realistic, unless the stars aligned and Clarkson, Randle, D'Angelo have breakout seasons; and Kobe returns to pre-Achilles form. Even then, the West is stacked with really good teams. You'll probably need 40 wins just to make the 9th or 10th seed.

And right now both our offense and defense suck.

I'm over it. Not once in any game that he has coached have I got any sense of execution, consistency, or any sort of system.

He's running our guys to the ground and has no idea what real rotations look like. He's taking hot hands out and not making in game adjustments as we get pummeled.

I think the Lakers have the overall talent base to win around 40 games. If we had an actual system you wouldn't have Kobe camping out at the three point line. He'd be in the mid post, the block, curling and motion action off the ball, Clarkson would be deadly as a cutter, floppy action, and penatrate and kicks where he can still attack. Russell would have the ball in his hands more and be able to spoon feed the bigs and get Julius the ball in the post and not having for him to create for himself at the top of the key and having to always beat his man off the dribble.

Having Black play more minutes would instantly make us a better defensive team. He's the second best defensive back after Roy. Better quality shots in the half court obviously leads to much less transition opportunities. With an actual defense scheme we wouldn't be sagging so much on the high screen and rolls that have killed us this year. Would we be great defensively? No of course not, but with a legit defensive anchor we should at least be serviceable with a better defensive scheme.

I predicted 32 wins realistically for this team before the season because of our youth (and old age with Kobe) in the starting lineup. But Kobe is healthier than I thought he would be, the kids are better and more poised than I thought they would be, and the bench potentially is MUCH better than I thought they would be because I had no idea how good Huertas was. I also think that the addition of MWP could be very good as well - something I never saw happening when I made that prediction.

So I don't think that shooting for 41 wins is unrealistic. Did I think they'd get there? No. And even that wouldn't get us to the playoffs which I've discounted all the time here.

But the way Byron is running this at this point I don't expect to break the twenties in terms of wins right now. And that's severely underachieving for this squad. There's no excuse for us being this bad, for the stubbornness about inane lineups, for the lack of offensive and defensive systems.

Maybe Byron simply doesn't have that many play calls in him. He might also just be really slow when it comes to on-the-fly analysis and turning it into a real-time adjustment. Maybe he's the type of person who would be great at analyzing film, but...too late Byron the game is over by then. Really though, it doesn't take a genius to realize that taking out our young guys (Randle/Russell) when they're starting to cook is a bad idea. Also nobody needs to see 3 games of Bass/Kelly to realize that lineup is a game loser. So he also has very poor judgment of the obvious, simple things. It's frustrating and concerning.

Also, I'll gladly eat crow if we turn all this Ryan Kelly playing time into a trade of the Pau Gasol proportions. Otherwise, this is just asinine.

If Brock Lesnar was Byron Scott's body guard, I would not hesitate to punch Byron in the face.

Agreed completely. Taking Randle/Russell out in that 3rd quarter was just mind boggling. NO reason for that at all. Awful.

I also agree that if we somehow can turn Kelly/something into something better than screw it I'll gladly eat crow. Otherwise it's dumb and has no place on the court right now.

He will never stand up to Kobe, never. And not only that he won't even offer constructive criticism here, it's pathetic. You want to hire a coach to help lead your young guys to the future, to save Kobe from himself when he's not helping the team, and you hire Kobe's old buddy.
