Well we were never getting Thibs because he was gunning not just for Byron's job but for one of the Buss kids' AND to be the boss of Mitch. That was absolutely never going to happen here, so I get it. Thibs got a great deal for himself.

We did lose out on Brooks, but he ended up getting 7 million a year which I think is overpaying. Washington probably isn't even a great fit, he was clearly just brought in there as Durant-Bait.

There's still plenty of coaches out there that would be better both short and long-term for this team than Byron. Messina, Walton, even guys like MacMillan and Mark Jackson. I mean basically anybody except Byron...

I pay $130 a month for cable. I have cable so I can watch Laker games on time warner sportsnet. If Boron is still coach, I might cancel.

No joke. I might too. There's things like Sling TV that can get you most of the channels. Networks? Maybe just downgrade to the very, very basic cable for those.

I've got a permanent seat on the Anybody But Byron train, but I really don't want Van Gundy. He's interesting as an analyst, but his teams were UGLY. Yes, they played great D, but they had no clue how to score the ball. Plus I'll never forget this:

Van Gundy as a defensive assistant? Yes.

Head coach? Pass. Unless he hands off offensive duties to someone else.

I am sorry to say this - but if Byron is not fired, I will not watch the Lakers next season. And I am sure I'm not the only one. If the owners don't care about the success of the franchise, I am done with them until they sell the team. I will be here, of course, to talk basketball and moderate, but that's it for me.

I heard it, here's the context.

Thompson ask Trudell, "Do you know who is happiest after Thibs and Brooks agreed to those deals?". And Trudell said that. And Thompson said "Luke because now he has all the leverage to get paid a bunch of money."

Totally thought he was gonna say BS because that means he'll still have a job.

If we haven't heard anything about coaching after this long, I truly believe they're gunning for Luke. There's honestly no other reason.
