^^ Well, I guess that answers the question of whether he is tanking on purpose or just through incompetence. Since we now have clear proof out of his mouth there is no way in hell he should be rewarded with another year given that he's going to end up with the worst record in franchise history this season. How could he be so bad that he could outdo last year with losses? It's nearly unfathomable. But here it is. Bye bye Byron. No excuse for this garbage we've seen this season.

I hate the notion that we have a bad roster, we do not, it's just that the players aren't used correctly. If we have such a bad roster why did Mitch, Metta and so many here called for us fighting for the 8th spot?

In regards to "Lakers Coach Byron Scott: We're not going to lose on purpose", so if I understand correctly, he just says that he sucks as a coach right? Cause they aren't purposely losing but we look like we are tanking so....

It's an old SNL sketch from the 80s with Harry Shearer and Martin Short (pictured) about two guys trying to make the 84 Olympics in "Men's Doubles Synchronized Swimming". Hilarious sketch.

Larry Coon has some legit team connections. It's the most encouraging report I've heard on Byron's overdue demise.

I liked this comment on Byron's statement they're not going to lose on purpose. If he really is trying to save his job with some sensible lineups and wins at the end:

    • Herbie V
Perfect. Go from almost totally screwing this thing up - to totally screwing this thing up.

Yeah. Coon is a legit NBA media guy. He was ESPN's cap guru for a while.

I stayed over at LG for a bit and was reading that Mike Wilbon (ESPN's PTI) has been slamming Russell saying he's been told by sources that he's cocky and has a bad attitude. I typically like Wilbon, but this struck me as weird. How does he know about this, but none of the local media types have reported it? If this would have come from a chump like Bayless, I wouldn't care. But I like and respect Wilbon so it's a little concerning.

Wait! What? Who's cocky? This isn't me! It's sirron's fault because Wilbon must be lurking on LB.

It was implied that it's not cocky in the good way. More like cocky in the "I'm above this." way.

Wilbon is as big a chump as Bayless is. Idiot has been defending Byron all season so I put zero stock in his opinion.

Wilbon I generally respect, but often times his opinions are influenced by knowing or being "friends" with players/coaches/whoever. You won't see him bash LeBron or anyone else of that stature for fear of seemingly not getting an interview later on, or maybe not being invited to their awesome parties. On the subject of B0ron and Russ, I don't think he's watched any of our games this year, and he appears to at least he friendly with B0ron because he defends everything he does.

ANY time Russ or Randle are mentioned on PTI he goes old-school and gets all huffy and parrots B0ron with stuff like "put their butts on the bench, splinters from the wood will teach them they need to earn it". That's not word for word except maybe the splinters from the wood thing, but he says that's how coaches should be, old school, do your job or I'll bench your a**, you do what I like or you don't play, stuff like that. Wilbon fully supports it here, as if this is the 80's or 90's and this is a team full of vets that have earned time over our youth and they need to show respect and take their lumps. Well that's not our situation, that's not really how things work in 2016, and so clearly he doesn't know anything about our team or watch them at all. Who should be getting time over Russ and Randle? Kelly? Nance? Williams? Huertas? Young? Please.

If you are genuinely trying to win, then you should never have a lineup that features Huertas, Young, and Kelly together on the court together when a game is not for sure over. Ever. Even if you're down 20 points mid-4th quarter, you can't use that lineup. If there's a couple minutes left and you're down a huge amount and it's garbage time, ok, fine, but other than that, nope. So if he's genuinely trying to win, and he does stuff like this, he's the worst coach of all time.

Yea.. you'd think a coach trying to win would design a play or two.. Kobe's always been on aimbot mode from mid-range I have no idea why someone can't drive and kick out to him.. it's free points, he doesn't miss that s***.

The pro Scott media, of which there is less and less, drive me nuts with their "give Scott another year to get his system in, he's got rookies" etc etc

Byron's "system" is the Princeton which emphasizes constant motion and passing. Think Sacramento circa 2001.

We have the lowest assist average in the NBA 18.1.
Our opponents have the highest assist rate in the NBA (in games vs. LAL) 24.2 (not exactly relevant to this but interesting nonetheless and means we don't move on defense)
Our top assist man is DAR @ 3.5, the lowest team leader in dimes in the NBA.
Movement? Anyone who has seen us play knows we are not being coached to move the ball.

That should tell any media who look at stats everything they need to know about Byron and his effectiveness as a coach. Not to mention his record as a coach. Pretty important stat too.
