As soon as I saw this I thought the same thing. Phil is about to make a full court press to bring in Luke. The top two guys I wanted were Walton and Lue. Sigh...

Yep. Walton now in play for the Knicks makes our lives so much harder. F***.

I swear if we keep Byron on, I'm not watching a single game next season. I won't do it. The FO is sitting on their hands waiting for God knows what.

Uh oh. Somehow though, I don't see Luke going to NY. Yes, he loves Phil, but that's a harsh spotlight to be under for your head coaching debut - just look at Fish.

I think Luke knows the Lakers want him, but they are going to need to expedite that time line that the mouth of the Lakers, John Ireland was throwing out there (he "proposed" ie, the FO was thinking) to hire him not next year but the following. That's stupidity and I don't see him waiting that long, unless they know something we don't (that Walton will stay one more year out of loyalty to GS in case Kerr's back/spinal issues flare up again).

Phil is going to throw everything at Luke, it'll be hard for him to say no. We have a better team talent wise but it's Phil.

Can't believe a bunch of teams are firing much better coaches but our FO is sitting on their hands hoping for a miracle.

Well, if Luke goes to NY (right now), im not watching a single game this or next season. Even if we hire Ollie, Jax or a ghost of Red freakin Auerbah.
You can't just sit on your a** and do nothing for f***s sake.

I'm not sure what is more troubling the fact that while better coaches on teams with better records are being fired while Scott still has a job or the fact that because of this the coaching pool is going to dry up before we even get in the water.

I don't believe for a minute that Jeannie is going to fire Jim soon. He already gave his ultimatum that she agreed to and while the clock is ticking, time's not up yet. Her father set this up for both of them and while Jim has done a terrible job thus far, he's still got a couple years left on the timetable to get his act together and turn it around. I do believe though that he needs to start signing some good FA's starting this summer. No, he probably won't get Durant, but we need to field a competitive roster next year and start winning. No more of this tanking garbage.

RE: Walton, that's good news if they are going after him hard. We cannot go another year with Boron at HC. We can't afford to do that.

Edit - I see that her timeline is for summer 2017. Fair enough. Get your act together Jim.

Holy moly. There was 8 firings before the all-star break that season? I guess I was enjoying winning so much that I hadn't even noticed.

I still wouldn't do anything with Mitch. He's proven enough to work well with our scouting department. Yes, he's a little to blame for doing nothing with Byron. But for everything he has done right he deserves to stay on.

The more I think about it, the more I think Shaw is the perfect fit.

To go from a young, first-time head coach that failed miserably to another young, first-time head coach is pretty risky. I know Shaw has had his struggles, but he's also well spoken of and he is one of Phil's guys. I think that's the right fit.

Walton is a better fit in LA and I'm saying that objectively. Subjectively: Walton is a better fit in LA.
