Happy for the guy since he absolutely made a difference in this game and he's just overall a good dude and it wasn't pleasant seeing him struggle on the bench last game. I agree that its a shame we don't see this type of aggression more. The 3 ball, when open, is a great asset to his game, but get your big a** in the paint bro. You can make a world of difference for us down there.
I don't believe it's by choice he's outside so often. I've been asking the Lakers to lean on him more all year but I'm one of his few fans around here.
Cut your hair short or go long. In mini fro thing looks clownish to me for some reason. But he’s sooo nice....
Great third quarter and a big reason we got the win tonight. I was still castigating him though in the first half.
Sad for the Nets staff and fans to lose their favorite player Brookie Monster and sad for his career to be misused by Fluke. Your Los Angeles Lakers everyone, where all star centers' careers are killed
It's amazing how good Brook plays when he plays in the post vs on the perimeter. He needs to to stay put in the post and maybe test the 3 point shot only when he's trailing and he's wide open.
play him inside more, Luke you d******, see how effective he is and he hits threes with a higher percentage
As great as he's been the last two game its because he was going up against another tall, big center in Allen and Adams. When we play another another team that like to go small it's tough to play Brook in the 4th quarter.
People forget this. He kind of gets ran off the floor in a lot of games. Not his fault, he's just big and slow. I like Brook, but he was born about 5 years too late.
Is it though? I mean, he’s still a talented enough big to make teams adjust to him. He provides an inside presence on defense that protects the paint and while he’s not a great rebounder, he boxes out well for guys like Hart and Randle to grab boards, when we usually give up offensive boards.
If Brook was better at getting down low more often when teams did go small and he was still on the board I would give Brook a chance to play in more 4th quarters against smaller teams, but Brook doesn't always know when or how to attach these team on offense enough. I know a lot of people put it on Luke for why he shoots too many outside shots instead of posting up more. Luke has always said he wants Brook to start in the post and work out once he's established a post presence. But Brook doesn't do this enough and thus I don't feel like he's earned the chance to finish games all the time. No matter the lineups.
I disagree. The Lakers have made a concerted effort since Brook's breakdown on the sideline to get him involved down low and he's come through for them. I've been begging them to get him more involved in positions for him to succeed instead of asking him to just take threes and it's about time they're listening because Brook is playing the way I thought he would when we traded for him.
Maybe we do have to give him more minutes or chances to close the games. I just don't feel like it's been successful enough on defense even with his ability to protect the paint at times. I just can see him getting switched onto smaller guys all the time in the 4th quarter, getting beat off the dribble, and causing our team to react thus leaving perimeter shooters open.
I can also see us using him in the post against their switch as well which we have done in the last couple games to moderate success. The bigger problem is playing him out of the post takes away a shooting threat and often our guys gravitate towards the post instead of to open areas. But that's all coachable.
It’s all about working on the defense. Truly, since Lopez is so lumbering, you would probably hard double team the ball handler to make a play. With the way we’ve been reading passing lanes, it should be one of our better options to get the ball out of the primary handlers hands and force another player to make a play. It’ll be the job of the team to read and react to give everyone enough time to rotate back to their man.
How about like Randle earlier and still playing with as much energy as possible all the time .... Brook ... play just like you're doing now with the heavier mix down low and the rim protection, BUT find it within yourself to work harder and as "fast" as you possibly can every time Luke has you in the game now. Seriously get some meanness and dominate with your huge size more often the players trying to guard you down there. And for the love of god no it's really no fun to watch you take as absolutely long as you do on those moves down there ... that I don't believe it's impossible at this stage of your career to do those quicker. Anyone could do those 5-10% quicker than you. Even Brook Lopez could do them a bit quicker. Practice it. Started shooting 3's last year how about doing the impossible and get a little quicker. Somehow. Like Julius go as hard as you can even if means a few less minutes. It would be more minutes and more fun minutes for you obviously. Where's the bands and parachutes and weights and s*** you could be using to make that happen. Fact .... you don't run the floor that slowly so we know you're capable of moving those big legs faster. Rant over.
He’s playing well. Not amazing, but he’s helping us win games with timely threes and such, credit where it’s due. Not someone I want long term unless it’s for VERY cheap, but while he is here it’s good to see him having fun and contributing to winning, instead of in tears on the bench.
