I actually thought Ingram's outside shot was getting better. I don't see anything wrong with his shooting mechanics.

His free throws issues may stem from fatigue from trying to lift weights and gain weight, and in game fatigue.

Give him the Summer to grow into his body, and I think we'll see a different player next year.

I identified his Ft shooting before we drafted him. He's never shot well, and I voiced a concern about how he loads up his shot off center. Can be corrected though.

I think I'm in the minority. I'm far from impressed and don't think he'll develop into anything special, offensively.

    Hope I'm wrong.

I think there are already some things he does well on offense - rookie or not.

Ingram's shooting 48.3% on corner threes, and 36.3% of his threes are corner threes, which are 2nd and 1st on the team. He has taken 49 corner threes, hitting 20 of them. That's really the only area where he's shooting well (but it's incredibly well).

    His other offensive strengths are:
decent offensive rebounder (better O-reb rate than JC, Russ, Nick, Lou, and Huertas).
solid defensive rebounder: better than all those players plus Calderon, Peace.
decent assist guy - he's 7th on the team
low TO rate: 5th best on the team
solid FTR: he's fouled on 33.1% of his FGA - ranking 4th on the team.

He has drawn 57 shooting fouls and has 10 and-1s on the season (2 more than Deng, for what it's worth).

It's fairly obvious to me that he needs to add a lot of strength and probably a bit of weight, too. I have no doubt he'll do that this offseason. I do want someone to work on his shot, but I think there's much to be positive about - he's 19.5 years old, but he's already getting it.

^^ the article you shared today said he's making a lot more of his shots when guarded than wide open. That tells me it's between the ears.

What I don't see him changing is his aggressiveness, or lack thereof. He appears laid back, by nature. I don't see a killer mentality, ala Kobe. Not that he has to be Kobe to be effective, but there are times to show a sense of urgency and I don't see it.

Yeah; let's hope "Kobe/Not Kobe" isn't the test - or we're screwed. I like a laid back dude - but I'd like to see him get fired up when the situation dictates it.

He was like this at Duke too, until Coach K brought it out of him. As a freshman coming into a program like Duke, it's a pretty daunting step to just start taking the reigns.

This is where Luke has to take over and say, enough Russell, enough Randle, Ingram needs to be the focal point of the team, and allow him to become aggressive.

Otherwise, I feel he's just sitting back and learning until he gets that chance.

good instincts on both ends, good attitude, good size. he'll be a player, just not likely a perennial allstar. but very few are.

    edit:

zack lowe had this to say today, i think it's accurate:

I heard on espn local radio (L.A.) that Kobe actually is going to meet with BI for training. This is good and hope it works out for his second season.

If Russell and Ingram don't become stars, the Lakers will not contend for perennial titles again.
