^ I agree that KD was more athletic and a better scorer in college, but KD is simply pointing out that Ingram is more skilled/polished than he was.

Is that Durant's freshman numbers? or his whole college career?

He's a one-and-done so his freshman year is his whole college career.

Completely agree about the offense in particular. Durant had outbursts. Ingram never did. Durant looked like trash on defense though. Ingram looks very good on defense.

yeah, i didn't listen again, but i felt like he was implying that ingram "knew how to play" to a greater degree than durant did at that age--not necessarily that he was better in all ways.

i'd agree there. ingram is well ahead of his peers in terms of understanding spacing and choosing his spots on both ends (this is randle's problem). he also gives pretty consistent effort (this is dlo's problem and randle's problem).

i wouldn't project him as a durant, but i'd already feel comfortable saying he could be like tayshaun prince with the ability to score in isolation...which is perennial allstar material.

You also have to understand that Durant at Texas had an offense designed around him. He was the focal point of the offense and was allowed more of free reign.

Ingram had to play through the ranks in a structured Duke system. Even still, he managed to play himself to more minutes and a prominent role on the team despite being a freshman.

He's got to put weight on his butt and legs, but his upper body is fine with just strengthening up. I don't think he needs to add a ton of mass to his upper body. George Gervin is a guy he idolizes and he can play with that type of body/frame. Still though to deal effectively with an 82 game season + eventually the playoffs, he needs some weight in his behind to help take the load off his joints. It'll come though. You don't have to be Ben Wallace to have a great NBA career, this isn't the NFL.

Absolutely. Durant is a different kind of player with a different mindset. He idolized Kobe which meant scoring, scoring, and more scoring. Ingram plays the game differently it's why I didn't love the comparison when I saw them play. He definitely reminds me more of Prince, but with a greater skill set and natural ability. If Prince is his floor then we're in for a fantastic player. Ingram might also be something of a Kawhi Leonard maybe: more defensive minded, but makes all the right plays and causes no trouble. Offensively he just makes great decisions. I'd love if he were more aggressive, but he doesn't have to be with the team we have. We have plenty of aggressive players. Having a guy who just does everything right on the floor is going to be really valuable.

He certainly will look more aggressive and polished by the start of just this season. And come November - December when he's really starting to figure it out .... this pr*** won't be there to to give his minutes to A. Brown before Ingram starts getting to the point of feeling too good about himself.

We have to also remember Brandon is coming into a situation with a few established rookies on this team. Durant was THE MAN in Seattle to build around.

We should be quite thankful he just didn't go out and start chucking shots. I think this displays an amazing amount of bball IQ and his versatility. He will likely start out getting into the flow of the system, but in the back of his mind, he'll grow into the system and slowly earn his stripes on this team as he did in Duke. That's how cerebral I think Brandon is.

The offensive potential was always obvious, but coming away from summer league I was impressed with his defense and how well he played in the system. Such a talented kid.

Just for a little perspective on how young Ingram is and why his potential is special. We have talked about and seen how Ben Simmons is NBA ready as far as his body and passing skills. Well, he turned 20 today. Ingram is still 18. He's just a kid.

No truth to the rumor that Simmons got too tired to practice after blowing out the candles.

Nice little piece on Ingram idolizing Durant. It sounds a lot like when Durant came in idolizing Kobe to be honest.

...sometimes I see him in pics with other players and he looks the part. Just a kid. Often looks sleepy eyed like he just rolled out of bed too. :)
