It's not too late to send him out if he doesn't work out the way we want him to. Many teams would still take him and in fact I would bet we could attach him to Deng at some point to make Deng more movable. Hell you throw a pick in there and we may even be able to get something valuable back.

That's worst case scenario of course. The kid is 20 f***ing years old and has shown flashes of what he can do. I still believe he'll be fine.

True. The issues are this, though, IMO: the front office wants to win now. If Ingram doesn't have s very good year or a year that lives up to their expectations, I think he will be moved. Just IMO.

The way I see it, if Ingram doesn't line up with what we're doing this summer, he's gone. I think there's now two real untouchables on the roster: Ball and Kuzma. Everyone else is expendable in some way as of today. If Ingram figures it out and turns things around (which I think the FO would prefer), then he's back on that list too. However, we're aiming at two guys that are wing players in FA. If they sign here, it's going to create a log-jam somewhere. I could see Ingram being moved for a veteran who LBJ or George prefers.

And as you noted, we can probably get that Dentg contract off the books in the process. That would give us so much more flexibility...

I don't think so because even Magic before pre-season started said in so many words he knows we may not win a ton of games but we're going to be super won to watch and be competitive in all of them.

I'm not saying players can't be traded, I'm just speaking to the fact that I think despite the lofty expectations Magic gave to certain players he understand our team dynamics in our chances to pick up wins. Competition and playing the right way is what Magic, Rob and Luke want to see.

This season I think that's true, but I think as soon as this season ends, that story changes.

Heck that story might change in February at the deadline if/when we need to continue to cement that we're serious about competing not just for FAs in the summer but in general.

Agreed. I am not advocating trading him, but if doesn't improve at the pace the Front Office expects, then I think they consider the possibility of moving him.

to be clear, i'm not saying ingram sucks and will always suck. i'm saying the untouchable talk was and is ludicrous. it is for ball and kuzma, too.

any of them can go for an allstar in his prime, imo.

I need to rewatch the first SL game but I don't remember Ingram looking like this. Maybe its cause it was against lesser competition but I don't think a cramp and everything that happened after changed him this much. We were so excited about him after that game.

CLE would have to sweeten the deal a little more.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Pelicraps started 2-12 and then got to a point where they want to get something for Cousins. If Lakers are confident that they will land Lebron and George next summer, trading BI in a package with Deng might be doable. That would free up 3 max slots. One could go to Cousins if he works out and the other 2 to lebron and PG.

    Lonzo
    Paul George
    Kumza
    James
    Cousins

Little far fetched situation but that team if Cousins doesn't eff it up, would be scary good.

Ingram has all the look of a player that trained too hard. Slow lethargic and doesn't seem to get off the ground well.. Having fun and easing up a bit might be the ticket..

What's the point of trading him when we're not going to get anybody next summer anyways?

I get it...Kuzma has actually made Ingram expendable. Shocking as it sounds, I think that even the FO knows that they got Kuzma in case Ingram don't pan out.

But...there's no point in getting rid of anybody when nobody is coming here ...

If you read what we wrote, that's what we said. We just weren't so pessimistic about it.

Yeah he didn't look this way even towards the end of last season. Something's not right because Ingram is a better player than this. Probably should re-evaluate in a couple of months.

he's been better-scouted, though he publicly denied that the other day, i think. but i had already remarked a few pages back (before his denial) that defenders were just waiting on him to upfake and go right. it's actually amazing that he still managed to get a step on several guys in these games, because they knew it was coming.

i feel like his game was more varied last year, but that could be because he wasn't force-feeding it. when he does, he goes to where he's confident: midrange pull ups and drives right. notice he's back to laying it up soft when he gets to the rim instead of trying to punch it, too. suggests leg injury/fatigue, lack of confidence or both.
