my dad said russell could have put up incredible numbers, too, and that he was a fantastic, generational talent. but he also said that wilt was the better player. back then, russell basically got to be kd with the warriors while wilt was giannis (on even more roids) with the bucks. in other words, switch wilt and russell, and my dad said wilt wins the same amount and puts up the gaudier numbers to boot. in the end, though, it seems a matter of preference, as wilt (again, according to some who watched) could have put more effort in on d (see: oneal, shaquille) but was so incredible that the talent overwhelmed the spirit and know-how.
Probably true, but we will never know for sure and you still can't discount Russell's accomplishments. They are too great to ignore. I never thought of Wilt as a slacker on D or O. I did not see him play during the prime of his career in Philly, so don't really know that part. Saw every Lakers game he played though.
Here's a rather too harsh look at Wilt vs. Russell. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/441840-bill-russell-an-overrated-nba-legend It does make some compelling points, despite the rhetoric.
Anyone with a brain capable of putting variability of stats into context can see that Kobe is very close to MJ, not 13 slots behind. My top 10: Kareem Wilt MJ Kobe Magic Bird Lebron Russell Hakeem Shaq Duncan
I'm already pissed off at where they have Kobe. Screw their list. Just was asking. I see how you are. mcpphhtttt:
I was just funnin' with LTLakerFan who was teasin' you by saying "I see how you are". Just being a mimicking monkey!
That's Chris. What about the MORON that thought he was ranking Kobe higher than he probably deserved at 14 because of some statistic?
