I thought it would be a closer race ... 100 "1st places" votes for Steph against 25 for Harden ... Lebron finished 3rd So true
cp was better, but lebron certainly wasn't bad. if not for his two weeks off, his team resume would have looked stronger, too.
CP3 definitely did not get enough recognition this season. Nobody likes the way he plays, but the same goes for Harden. If Harden is #2, CP3 should have been right there with him. Also, LeBron James was the only player from the East to get any votes. http://ak-static.cms.nba.com/wp-con.../04/Kia-2014-15-MVP-Voting-Ballot-Results.pdf Some people also just...deserve to be banned from voting. Bob Rathbun gave Klay Thompson a vote. Eddie Sefko had Blake Griffin 4th. Gary Washburn had LMA at 5th, and Jabari Young had LMA at 4th. Etc etc.
Here's another laughable one: Mike Crispino's votes: 1. Harden 2. Westbrook 3. LeBron 4. Marc 5. Curry What? How in the world do you have Curry 5th? I can somewhat understand 2nd. Maybe...maybe even 3rd. But 5th? Behind Marc Gasol? Was he trying to sabotage it to tip it in Harden's favor? Good thing a majority thought Curry was the MVP.
I'm just glad the late media push for harden to get it failed. grantland was going all out. agree with thk that cp3 is no more detestable than harden, and he had an equally impressive season. if paul's tendency to look for contact instead of a legit shot on occasion bothers people, then those same people should want harden out of the league.
I'm sorry, how is Davis getting such a screw job here? Steph I understand. But Harden, CP3? Those guys have legitimate teams here, let's not act like these guys have busted teams or something. Unibrow took his nobody team on his back through the toughest conference, made the playoffs, and even took Golden State to 6 games. If you're talking about a player who is the most valuable to his team, he's the definition of it. He's probably the only player on the top 5 that's actually a legitimate two way player. He's both the offensive focal point and the defensive anchor. Take any of those other guys off their teams they still make the playoffs. As it always is, the MVP award is a popularity award, that's it.
Well, AD was great, but the playoffs have no bearing on MVP rankings. Also, he didn't take GSW to 6 games. They were swept. CP3 was also ranked below AD. Edit: Not that I disagree with you. Just saying, CP3 was actually ranked below Davis. The media loves Harden for some reason and they love those "storylines". Harden didn't have Dwight for half the season so it became about how Harden carried that team. The media kept talking about how the Cavs only have 1-8 or something without LeBron. Westbrook went on a triple double rampage without Durant. They started talking about how Westbrook was carrying that team to the playoffs. Instead of looking at what actually happened throughout the season, they latch onto these stories. Of course, Davis was consistently great the entire season. He actually did carry that team to the playoffs, but consistency doesn't necessarily bring in any "storylines". Westbrook, LeBron, and Davis also missed 13-15 games, which hurt their case and sadly put Harden at #2.
