We could have used a little more from AD tonight.
Two games in a row now.

we're once again at zero margin for error, halfway into the season. trade ain't saving anything, either.

Another fantastic game for AD, a near triple double 28, 12 and 9 assists. AD used to struggle big time with double teams, now it’s like he’s anticipating or welcoming them and passing out quickly and to the right guy. Must have been a point of emphasis for him, something he’s worked on, you love to see that from great players, never settle, keep improving.

Shot 70% Too big. Too skilled. Lively is the only real length they have. AD was in there fighting off 3 Mavs for rebounds. If we were sitting at 4th in the standings, not only would his DPOY campaign get more respect but he'd be a Top 3 candidate for MVP.

AD was phenomenal tonight. It's so great to see him destroy the opposition.

one thing is that we've started sending cutters for him instead of just standing in spots hoping our big can laser a skip pass (and that the recipient will actually convert).

In all fairness to the coach …. who knew that could help AD out?

in fairness, vogel really didn't have much off ball movement, either. i was hoping that would improve immediately with ham, but it took time. AD's not a great passer like jokic, but he's not a terrible passer. he just needs viable targets.

In fairness to Vogel at least he was a legit not fake great defensive coach.

true, and part of his offensive issues could be attributed to the fact that he put defense first and often played another non-shooting/lane-clogging big with AD, which meant basket cuts were less likely to help matters.

i was really frustrated last year when ham had AD catching outside the arc and facing up with a bunch of stationary teammates. you barely see him getting touches out there anymore (finally) unless it's catch and shoot on a trail or something. we're doing better to get him the ball in his sweet spot (high post) and running guys off that so people can't just camp on him.

AD has flourished in the new offense, whatever it is. He's looking more like the scoring machine that he was in New Orleans. He's actually playing better than he did in the chip season.

not sure its' the offense or he's just better at reading double teams. I think it's about neutral - he was below average at passing out of doubles and that was one reason the Lakers couldn't rely on him consistently and he's turned that weakness into a strength lately. It could be the new offense makes it easier for him to see doubles but I'm not sure.

His jumper was more consistent in the bubble though. AD with that jumper plus passing out of the double would be Jokic level, he's not quite there yet but it's nice to see he's still improving

Ride the DLO wave as long as you can, especially as we go up against these bad teams to close out the month.
