I guess I'm somewhat indifferent at the moment. I don't hate it and can see potential with him on and off the floor. Can't see him staying healthy though.

Been out of the loop a bit the last few weeks and hadn't heard this about Lopez.

    Couple things:

    1. There's a reason Bogut was available at this point in FA. I'd love to think it's just a health question, but there's undoubtedly a factor in his effectiveness. Really good players don't sign an unguaranteed deal a week or two before camp opens. I'm going to keep my expectations very low on his game. The only things I'll expect are some physical play and good passing.

    2. This is by all accounts an excellent signing. It's low risk and high reward which is always a good bet at this stage (or any stage really). If Bogut proves he's healthy we'll have an excellent center rotation that provides different things. Both big men protect the rim and both are good passers, but Brook is more of a post player and can shoot while Bogut is more mobile and a lob target (in the Mozgov role ironically). Given our mobile power forwards I think there's room for two centers like that in stretches.

This is obviously a bad sign for Zubac, but I think it's the right move long-term. He showed exactly how not ready he was in Summer League. I expect Zubac to be in the G-League a lot. He needs the work and given his attitude in Summer League he can probably use the humbling. Bryant is an awesome cheerleader, but Bogut is a better basketball player by a large margin.

a cheap trade-able asset with championship experience if it doesn't work out

If we're concerned about Lopez's back then this is instantly a better signing to me especially at the price.

I definitely don't hate the move, in fact I think it's pretty good. There's no risk at all, Bogut is here to play some limited minutes, and this minimizes the possibility of both him and Lopez getting injured. So, the minutes at the C position will be perfect, since Bryant is not ready anyway. On the other hand... I don't like this for Zu, but he kind of deserved it after the Summer League fiasco. He's a hard worker though, he will figure it out.

It isn't likely Bogut makes it through the year but not much of a risk. If he dies, he dies.

Whoa, surprising move but hey I'll take it. Good to have a vet on the cheap. I like the insurance and while I'd like to develop Zu, he sure did stink it up in Summer League. Never saw this one coming but I think it's a good signing. Bogut when healthy is better than Mozgov for sure and for 2 million on a one year deal instead of 15 per for four, well that's a good deal.

I honestly think Zu's Summer League performance is a big reason Pelinka "hustled" after this. Towards the end of last season all the talk was Zubac might be a future all-star and he's the future of the Lakers at center. We get Lopez which was as much a salary dump as bringing in talent, but now we have a backup putting Zu third? I wonder if we sort of have a wink-wink deal that if things aren't going well at the deadline, we will trade him to a contender.

    1. i really didn't see zubac as bad in sl as others did. looked very similar to what i'd seen already. a few shots didn't drop, but it looked more to me that he simply wasn't a great fit with what they were doing out there.

that said, he's not ready to be a 20mpg player.

    2. the lopez back injury is new and scary. boston's licking its chops at that news.

Great insurance option and we finally have someone who can set legit screens. Also helps because he's one of the best passing big men in the game. I was a little bummed to hear that Brook may miss some pre-season time with a back injury. He's been really healthy the last few years in Brook. I hope this isn't anything that lingers into the season.

Great signing and show the power of Luke because he was the main recruiter and guy pushing for this signing.

This signing just gives Luke the option. Doesn't mean we can't or won't go small a lot. I mean this is Luke we're talking about he's going to want to push the pace with some of the athletes we have on the team this year more than ever.

    82-0 incoming

On the real note probably just fear from zu stinking up the joint and for him to realize he can be tossed just like DRuss was
So let's hope zu bounces back in the regular season

hey......didn't Luke push for Mozgov too??? Just sayin...

At least this is an amount we can swallow without much discomfort if needed.

It was actually 2015-2016. For the 2016-2017 season he broke his leg game 1 with the Cavs.
