Glad he's seeing the court tomorrow. Very interesting early comments regarding his future. You have to think that was discussed with the 3 of them to some varying degree in their meeting. Frank isn't the type to speak out of turn and also knows his stuff. Wonder what rabbit Rob has under his hat.
When the Nets go small with Griffin or Aldridge @ center, could Drummond keep up with them, Nets will try to space the floor.
Drummond is freakishly quick laterally for his size. Definitely quicker than Aldridge and probably also quicker than Griffin at this stage of his career. The better question would be, could those two keep up with Drummond's speed and power?
Griffin no for sure. Aldridge has the height and wingspan, but I'm not sure he can handle the power of Drummond, AD2 should go right into his chest all the time. I'm getting ahead of myself, but the Lakers will have to beat them up.
I hope to God he dominates tomorrow because we have such a massive fan base that even if only 1% turn on him it's like the whole World is against him
Speaking of massive did you see those pics and footage of him? And then to hear he’s acknowledged by peeps here to be athletic and abnormally “quick” with his feet for his size? Sheeeooot!!! Dwight who?
I would say the quickness is the jumped out for me LT. I like his handles which show of his co-ordination and speed. Combined with the size and strength, I think he can add much too a Lakers sorely needing some optimism. I cannot await for when our Death Star is fully operational.
what's the story on contracts of this nature? does it count as year 1? if so, we could re-up him with the full MLE next year (player option on year two like trez), then he opts out and we use early bird for a larger raise (up to nearly 18 million per, i think?). sort of a kcp situation, but instead of starting large and getting smaller, you start small and get larger. again, depends on whether this current contract constitutes a "season" with the team. anyway, again, lots of time to think about this.
The stats I’m most excited about are second chance points and offensive rebounds. He’ll have a ton of chances to put up points because of all our bricklayers.
I think we can expect some rust, he hasn’t played in what, like a month and a half? But the excitement of being new to the team might carry him to some nice plays so we’ll see, but I won’t judge much off tonight. Very glad we get to see him play this soon though, makes us deeper having Gasol move to the bench and be able to probably play less minutes, we get the size advantage of McGee and Dwight from last year back.
