C’mon you really “expect” to lose this game? Sure it’s possible .... but you expect it? Would put a nice chunk of money on it you’d like to win but hate to lose?
This is way more about us than them . Things have changed since the 2 games we destroyed them : - The starters have not played a meaningful game in a while , probably will come out slow intensity wise - Lebron will probably have a bad game as he's still getting into rythm... won't defend as his usual level , expect whoever he's guarding to have a lot of clean looks - Green is one of the very rare defenders who can bother AD ... who will settle for midrangers with no spacing with Drummond - Warriors have been better. We should kill them at the rim WITH the proper spacing , this is actually a game for THT and Trez . I wouldn't be surprised if we lost this game . Good thing is we are the best at defending Curry but I don't trust Drummond here either
If we lose to the Warriors, it won't be Drummond's fault. It will be because Steph has one of those games. I'm not really worried about him though. We have AC, KCP, Shroeder and even THT with his wingspan to rotate unto Steph. If the game is on the line, I would expect short stretches of LeBron taking the assignment. We are more of a matchup problem for them, than they are for us. Draymond can't guard both AD and LeBron at the same time.
Not to sound over confident, but I see no path to a loss in this one as long as Bron laces them up. We have the guards to give Curry as much difficulty as possible. Bron and AD can also cover him for stretches. No one has as many different looks to throw his way as we do. Green and Wiggins can't beat us and that's what it would take.
It's tough because on the Curry screens we need a big that come out aggressively and hedge or even take Curry on...and I just don't have confidence that Trez is going to be someone that can do this consistently, and same with Gasol. I think our best bet is actually Drummond in this particular matchup...he's going to have to go all out since it's now the playoffs so I expect him to hedge hard on those screens and trap Steph as much as possible and make him give up the ball.
i sometimes (often?) wonder about the application of statistics to basketball for reasons like this. if 29.1% is "absurd", then why would 28.6% lead the league? this implies that these numbers don't vary all that much. last year, the average ORB% was 22 with a SD around 2. so yes, 28 is off the charts, statistically speaking. there are typically 45 rebounds per game per team (with 10 being offensive rebounds), and team ORB% is calculated by dividing your ORB by that number plus the other team's DRB. thus, the raw average ORB would be about 10. the absurd number is 13. factoring in likely moses malone situations (drummond is a culprit here), and i'm not sure how meaningful this is.
i liked the part about him running the floor just to put pressure on the defense. these are the kinds of things we need. curious to see how he does in the playoffs and what that means for next year. his comments seem to indicate that he's going to be focused on winning over money. i wonder by how much?
Good article! Pulling for this guy and for him to help us win a ring. He'd be over the moon with that whatever happens for next year. He's very fortunate to have Phil freakin' Handy working with him and LeBron and AD on the court with him. And Gasol willing to help as well. Lakers chemistry to help toward the wins.
He needs to play the entire game: his awesome boxing out, great finishing, great rotations on the perimeter and premier ability to create spacing is needed I would say 48 minutes a game

I wouldn't count on him being benched. Besides, he can be useful against certain matchups, the Warriors are simppy not one of them. Neither is Phoenix btw.
