maybe we should wait until Drummond actually steps on the court in laker gear to believe it? lol jk. I'm happy for Laker fans and the Lakers, big get!
This was the best case scenario for our buyout opportunity! Next up let's see what happens with Otto Porter Jr?! He's a perfect fit. Imagine moving schroeder to the bench and lebron back at point guard with Porter starting. Our 3 point shooting will go up dramatically
I really feel like LBJ wants to spend time playing cutter around Schroeder and Gasol. He will play point if he wants to, but it seems like it tires LeBron out if he has to do it the whole game. And if LBJ and AD are slotted as forwards, I think it's really hard for backups to get involved. I think Kuz had to reinvent/improve his game quite a bit to play alongside these two, and Kief never really come along until getting time after AD went down. Porter is an interesting player but it's hard seeing where the minutes go. Drummond tho, we need him.
The deadline for players to be bought out, waived and be eligible for the 2020-21 playoffs is April 9.
Um, none of those players are currently available lol. It’s mainly just wishful thinking that they’ll be bought out, it remains to be seen. Porter would obviously be a huge pickup, but I feel like that has to be pipe.
damn, thought i saw that those three had been bought out haha hopefully they can snag a wing like one of those guys. just don't waste the last spot on a "shooter" who will come in and brick every 3
This was pretty much a must, we have to do all we can to try to fill holes to make the playoffs and then compete with teams getting bigger like Denver, and more talented like the Nets. No I don’t expect all-star play from him, but he’s being signed for peanuts, he’ll give us things we need like some bulk, rebounding, and scoring down low, I’m definitely excited about this signing. I also read if we waive one player soon we do have enough to sign 2 in addition to Drummond, so..yeah, here’s hoping McKinnie is waived.
Can we find a 50% 3-pt shooter? Because that guy is going to shoot 40% for the Lakers, which is sorely needed. Also, yeah, Drummond is a rental... after looking at our current situation, there's no way we can pay him if he helps us win the championship. I mean, this is the reason he's signing with us - he's going to go super hard this season, show everyone what he can do in order to sign another gargantuan contract. We'll have to figure things out again in the offseason, but for now... he's going to be good for us. If we were somehow able to keep him, that's two bigs in their primes and the best frontcourt in the NBA. I just don't see how, honestly.
My favorite aspect of this is that Cookie will have much more doom to work with. Going to start grinding the coffee beans. Arctic blueberry is perfect for enjoying Doom.
Negatives: He's not the sharpest tool in the shed and thinks he's Embiid in the post. The thing is he is a terrible post player (not a good passer, doesn't handle double teams well, slow to read the defense) and he's rebounding gets inflated because he gets a lot of his own putbacks. This causes the team he's been on all sorts of problems as similar to Dwight if he didn't get his touches in the post he sulks and then his whole game goes downhill. Has no jumper to speak of Not that great at defending perimeter player if forced to switch Rebounding numbers are really good but he misses box out so team impact is limited on the glass Positives He's very big and athletic - something the Lakers just don't have right now He can be a great rebounder if engaged and I think as a finisher he should be good although his effort to post up hasn't let this shine too much Post defense and rim protection are pretty good Basically, the way I see this if Lebron and AD can do the same Jedi mind trick they did do Dwight Howard and convince Drummond to concentrate on being a lob threat and menace in the paint in terms of the glass and defense, he could be outstanding. Just don't know if he's fallen enough in his mind (remind Dwight's career was done so his ego was finally broken) to take this role. If he can, he can be a great addition as he has the potential to be a younger version of Dwight like was for the Lakers last year: which was great. So all things together they could now have all the strengths of last year teams (really big and athletic team) with better and younger playmakers (here's looking at you DS and THT)
worth nothing that his FT shooting has improved quite a lot in recent years, but is sure to take a hit once he dons a lakers uniform
I refuse to worry myself about whether Drummond signs here after the season. I’m just happy he’s here because it’s been a glaring need from day one of this season to me. Lebron is gonna get him a lot of easy buckets.
Dude might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but playing with Bron will do wonders for him. I got what i wanted (an athletic big), now let's get a decent shooting wing or a 2 guard and LET's GO.
